Thanks to Tess for sending some urgently needed non virus news. Isshin Ramen opened in this ever changing location formerly home to #1 Juicy Cajun Seafood (and many others) back in October 2019. Wok n Roll closed their Adams Morgan location just up the block from here back in September 2019. Stay tuned.

“MPD responded for a burglary in progress in the 1700 block of Lanier Place NW, which involved a subject who was in what appeared to be a mental health crisis. He attempted to harm himself and resisted officers attempts to detain him. Officers utilized a less-lethal impact weapon in order to ultimately bring the subject into custody. (more…)

This was taken around 10pm [Ed. Note still taken from a video showing lots of rats] last night in the alley behind the restaurants (mostly closed) located in the 2300 block of 18th St NW and Champlain St NW. Although this has always been an issue, we have seen increased numbers and aggressive behavior from the rats. The city has provided the black boxes and visits by abatement trucks but the situation has worsened. The rats have caused excessive damage to the car engines parked in the alley block. We have tried high frequency sonar, moth balls, oils etc to no avail. Looking for any suggestions of who/where to turn for proven results?”

“I wanted to alert you all to something that happened to me in my neighborhood (Admo/Kalorama) on Thursday night to make sure everyone remains vigilant, especially during these strange times. My property manager found on the security footage that there had been a stranger looking into my windows (only two of which were even partially open!) for about half an hour around midnight on Thursday night. Oh no. Not looking good. I’ve gotten a few emails that they’ve been dark but keep forgetting to follow up but now Lauren spots a for sale sign in the window. Their last Facebook message was January 9th. Not looking good at all. Almost exactly a year ago a reader raved about a wonderful experience they had at Seasons and Sessions. Seasons and Sessions opened in the former Black Squirrel space back in November of 2018. Stay tuned.

Back in January we reported that the Spoon space had gone up for lease. Sounds like it’s been leased. I hear that an Azerbaijani bakery is coming and they will be open for breakfast. I believe they are aiming for an opening this spring. STAY TUNED.

Next week is now. The Streets Market in Adams Morgan soft opened on Saturday and based on the number of messages I received folks are indeed very very happy.
