In August of last year we learned that a hair salon would taking over half of the old Mixtec space but we’ve been waiting to see what happens to the other side. A reader reports that a banner is now up for “Great Philly Cheese Steaks”. Updates as they get closer to opening.
Mixtec closed after 40 years back in March 2014.

Roll through the beautiful streets of DC with hundreds of dapper cyclists for a retro-styled fall celebration that has become a DC tradition since its 2009 debut. Following the ride, we’ll gather at Roofers Union in Adams Morgan for a jazz-age jam starring New York’s Dandy Wellington and His Band. The ride is free (but pre-registration is required), and the party’s cover is $20, or $42.50 with food.”

Erdem sends the devastating word this morning:
“So’s Your Mom in Adams Morgan on Calvert is closed indefinitely due to food violations.”
Hopefully the issues are resolved very very soon as this place has some of the best and most moderately priced sandwiches in DC. I often rank it in the top 10 “hidden gems” of DC. Praying, yes, praying for a speedy resolution!
