Looks like Life of Riley also has a Rockville location where they offer:
Doggie Daycare, Doggie Hotel Suites, Grooming, Pet Pencil Portraits, Pet Boutique and a Chauffeur Service.

Looks pretty sweet:

I’m still having a tough time processing this whole thing but life goes on.
And while I appreciate the aspirational name, well:

RIP the greatest name in Adams Morgan:

The La Fourchette to Los Cuates transformation is complete – they opened at 4pm yesterday. You can see Los Cuates’ menus here.

The best contrasts in DC. Not as good as this former one but pretty close:

Update: Reopened!
Erdem sends the devastating word this morning:
“So’s Your Mom in Adams Morgan on Calvert is closed indefinitely due to food violations.”
Hopefully the issues are resolved very very soon as this place has some of the best and most moderately priced sandwiches in DC. I often rank it in the top 10 “hidden gems” of DC. Praying, yes, praying for a speedy resolution!

From an email:
“Hudson & Crane has just signed a lease for the retail space next to us (formerly And Beige) and will be knocking down walls and expanding to nearly double our size!
We’ll retain the 1781 Florida Avenue NW address and will be able to display even more of our private label American made sofas as well as furniture, decor, bar-ware, local artists/vendors as well as commercial artists and now also showcase dining tables / dining-ware / table-scapes. Opening Dec. 2016!
We’re open to and looking for local artists and vendors (who have a wholesale capability) to include in our expanded store. david (at) hudsonandcrane (dot) com”

From a press release:
“Join some of the DC-area’s best home bakers for the 5th Annual Pie Fest on Sunday, October 23, 2016 (1pm to 4pm)!
Come have fun at the all-you-can-eat pie tasting to support a great foundation honoring the memory of our friend Jayna Murray.
The event will be upstairs at Bourbon in Adams Morgan (2321 18th Street). How does it work? Bring a homemade pie to compete for prizes, or just come to eat and be merry. There will be an on-site cash bar. And don’t worry fans of the gridiron, the TVs will be tuned to football.
Each pie can be entered into one of six categories:
• Apple
• Fruit (other than apple)
• Nuts
• Chocolate
• Savory
• Piepourri (miscellaneous)
Any filling in a 9-inch pie crust qualifies, and there are no limits on entries. Attendees taste as many pies as they want and vote for their favorite in each category.
Pie entries must arrive between 1:00 PM and 2:30 PM, voting closes at 3:30 PM, and winners will be announced at 4:00PM. There will be six winners – but with an afternoon of delicious pie, rest assured, there will be no losers!
Tax-deductible tickets are $15 if entering pie and $25 if just bringing your appetite.
Tickets must be purchased in advance via Eventbrite.
All proceeds will be donated to the Jayna Troxel Murray Foundation (more…)

Back in 2012 a reader wrote in:
Check out the “old bones” that lie under the drywall, linoleum, indoor/outdoor carpet, and drop ceiling at the former Payless Shoes site on Columbia Road. More importantly, it’s the former Avignone Freres historic bakery, which furnished the White House with cakes and pastries.”
Now a remnant old sign is visible on the outside:

Stay tuned for a new mixed use development coming here:

“Dear PoPville,
I live in Adams Morgan and for the past hour (since about 9:30am), there has been a siren blaring on and off that I can only describe as sounding like an air raid siren. It continued on and off until 11:15 or so. Does DC have a city-wide air raid siren system, and, if so, how are we supposed to know the difference between a test and an actual alert?”
