Scuttlebutt confirmed. Check out the anafre_pizza_menu (PDF).

From a press release:

“Chef Alfredo Solis has transformed his critically acclaimed restaurant, Anafre, into a pizzeria serving up Mexican-inspired pizzas.

Like many restaurants in DC right now, Anafre must adapt to stay afloat. The Mexican street food at Solis’ other restaurants, Mezcalero and El Sol, has proven to be a comfort to residents in times of uncertainty, but the seafood-heavy menu at Anafre doesn’t work as well for pandemic times. We received the first report at 10:09pm last night (Wednesday):

“Seriously, what’s with the explosion sounds (similar to a generator blowing) that we’ve heard several times in Fort Totten? The power has gone out several times again.”

“Same! We are without power near Fort Totten metro – two or three huge booms tonight. Same thing earlier this morning, but luckily power just flickered then.”

“The loud bangs are continuing. In the past the loud bangs came first, then we lost power. Tonight I only heard the bangs after we lost power. Intermittent sirens somewhere nearby.”

“It’s a transformer or some power line on 12th between Allison and Buchanen, it’s been exploding every couple days. Pepco was working on it earlier today after it happened, but just happened again minutes ago” (more…)

Lawren and many others reported around 10 and 11pm last night: “huge boom in north petworth a few minutes ago. Sounded like a cannon.”

“I heard it too just after 10pm, sounded like the mysterious Petworth boom again….”

Booms were also reportedly heard from Takoma, Silver Spring and even Hyattsville.

About a week ago another reader reported: “I live in 16th Street Heights and I’m wondering if anyone else regularly hears a singular loud boom go off in the evening. I feel like it started in the summer around the time of the nightly protest fireworks, but while the neighborhood fireworks have pretty much stopped, this single loud boom continues.”
