“The nationally acclaimed Downtown Holiday Market, presented by DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID) and Diverse Markets Management, returns to the nation’s capital for its 17th year starting Friday, November 19 through Thursday, December 23. The spacious, open-air market will take place in the eclectic arts and entertainment corridor in Penn Quarter, filling up two entire blocks of F Street NW, from 7th to 9th Streets, NW–steps away from the buzzing Capital One Arena and Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery. “Mayor Muriel Bowser and the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announced that the construction of the District’s permanent Black Lives Matter Plaza monument at 16th Street between K Street and H Street NW is officially complete.

“When we created Black Lives Matter Plaza in June 2020, we sent a strong message that Black Lives Matter, and that power has always been and always will be with well-meaning people. Today, we have transformed the mural into a monument,” said Mayor Bowser. “One of my proudest memories of Black Lives Matter Plaza is when, in his final days, Congressman John Lewis came to see it for himself. He recognized Black Lives Matter Plaza as good trouble, and we know it will remain a gathering place for reflection, planning and action, as we work toward a more perfect union.” (more…)

The Sweet City Rides Seen For the Filming of the White House Plumbers this Weekend

Thanks to all who sent photos of the sweet city rides they spotted during the filming for the White House Plumbers over the weekend. From HBO:

“What it’s about: Based in part on public records and the book Integrity by Egil “Bud” Krogh and Matthew Krogh, the five-part limited series The White House Plumbers will tell the true story of how Nixon’s own political saboteurs and Watergate masterminds, E. Howard Hunt and G. Gordon Liddy, accidentally toppled the presidency they were trying to protect.

Who you’ll recognize: Woody Harrelson and Justin Theroux will star as Hunt and Liddy, respectively. Domhnall Gleeson (Run) will portray the brilliant, and ambitious White House Counsel, John Dean. Lena Headey (Game of Thrones) will play Hunt’s wife, Dorothy, a CIA asset who tries to hold her family together.

Rounding out the ensemble cast is: Kiernan Shipka, Ike Barinholtz, Yul Vazquez (The Outsider), David Krumholtz (The Deuce), Rich Sommer (Run), Judy Greer, Kim Coates, Liam James, Zoe Levin, Tony Plana, Zak Orth, Nelson Ascencio, Tre Ryder, Gary Cole (Veep), Toby Huss, John Carroll Lynch, and Kathleen Turner.”
