I (miraculously) scored two tickets for my husband to see one of his favorite bands playing at the Atlantis next month. The concert is a few days after my due date, so this was intended to be a birthday gift that he could attend with a friend. There was quite the scene tonight (Sunday) in Capitol Hill neighborhood, and an off-duty police officer was the instigator.
A lady was crossing East Capitol right across the street from the west side of Lincoln Park next to Wine and Butter Cafe. She started walking when the street sign said Don’t Walk and a guy pulled up in a Tesla dual-motor Model Y or Model S, stopped right in front of her, laid on his horn, and started screaming obscenities at her. He did not remove his hand from the horn and honked for the entire altercation which was probably about 4-5 minutes. (more…)

Went for dinner in Shaw, and a 5% “service charge” was added into the bill. When we asked about it, the server told us that it was not “service” because this was not shared with the staff, so we should tip the full 20%. I then talked to the manager who said: (more…)

So, my husband and I went to brunch on Sunday and got a nasty surprise walking home. Jackie O’s has a delicious-sounding “unlimited” cocktail service for two hours. Since I’ve heard great things about the four cocktails in the deal, we decided to go for it. The unlimited cocktails cost $55, so pricey, but I figured 4 each would break even. (more…)

“The 45/15 minute swimming rule is a new citywide policy following the near-drowning incident last week in Ft Lincoln. I’m told the policy is being implemented out of caution to make sure swimmers are safe.”

It looks like DPR has instituted a new policy at both indoor and outdoor pools to call a roughly (sometimes longer) “safety break” where all patrons have to exit the pool – even lap swimmers. (more…)
