“Dear PoPville,
I’ve got a question that I was hoping to get some help on, and might benefit others as well. We’ve always enjoyed going to see the NSO at the Kennedy Center, but since March we haven’t gone back. This Christmas we received some gift certificates from well meaning family members that we don’t know what to do with now. I understand that the money is already spent, but (more…)
“Dear PoPville,
I wanted to share a concern about the park across the street, which many of us in the neighborhood love and use regularly. Renovation work started around July 2025 and then stopped pretty abruptly around August. For a while, there was no information about why the work paused, and eventually a rumor started circulating that human remains had been found. Later, the park’s newsletter confirmed that this was true.
Recently, on a day when the park was unexpectedly open and the construction barriers were down, my partner and I walked over to take a look. Near the areas where digging had been happening, we saw piles of dirt with visible human bone fragments mixed in. (more…)
“Dear PoPville,
I’m wondering if you have any suggestions for where to post about an item stolen from a car? I’d appreciate any advice beyond filing a police report and checking online platforms like FB Marketplace and Craigslist. (more…)
“Dear PoPville,
A local cleaning company went door to door hanging advertisements on front doors throughout the neighborhood. Because this was done on Christmas Eve, many of those flyers have been left untouched for hours or longer, making it very obvious which homes were unoccupied during the holiday.
Several neighbors were alarmed, not just because it was intrusive, but because it effectively marked hundreds of homes as potential targets for theft or vandalism. It felt careless and, frankly, unsafe. At a minimum, (more…)
“Dear PoPville,
Spotted this sign at Tony’s Breakfast this morning, due to a Treasury decision halting penny production, they’re rounding cash change to the nearest 5¢. Curious if other businesses are doing this too. Seems harmless.”
And at Urban Outfitters: (more…)
“Dear PoPville,
The construction on Connecticut in Kalorama before Dupont is out of control. Today both side walks are closed on both sides of the street making it dangerous and very difficult to walk down the street. (more…)
“Dear PoPville,
Are you aware of anyone who has approached the Mayor’s office or their councilmember to request their plans for addressing DC’s pervasive, city-wide rat problem? Have condo associations or neighborhoods found successful ways to minimize the public health, property damage, and nuisance caused by these rats? It was disappointing to see (more…)
“Dear PoPville,
Over the past few years, I have attempted to reserve a car from the Hertz/Dollar location at Union Station 6 times. Of those attempts, only 2 were successful, but only after being wait-listed for like half a day. The other 4 times, I either cancelled my plans or scrambled for a last-minute alternative.
Here is how it works: (more…)
“Dear PoPville,
Ok, I get it that I have choices where to shop but CVS is kinda the only game in town for pharmacy. Here is what happened to me on Monday.
Went mid morning to the CVS in Takoma Park, my prescription wasn’t ready (ok, forgive me for the rush) but decided to get deodorants.
Called for an attendant, waited for a while until a salesperson came to tell me that someone from the previous shift had taken the key and they couldn’t open the case. Wait, what?
So I went to the CVS in Georgia & Van Buren. Standing in front of the deodorant case … for a longer while until the sales person came back with the SAME story. (more…)
“Dear PoPville,
Hoping for a holiday miracle with this one. My fiancé’s wedding tuxedo was lost/stolen at Union Station last night (Wednesday.) Our wedding is Friday. He came out of Gate A of Union Station around 7:50pm on Wednesday night, was rolling multiple suitcases. As he was exiting, his blue Proper Cloth garment bag containing his wedding tuxedo fell off the suitcase and on to the floor. Less than two minutes later, (more…)
