My wife and I ate at El Presidente tonight (fantastic) and parked in the Batley/La Cosecha garage (1270 4th St NE), which I believe is the garage referenced. It still offers three hours of free parking.
We entered at 7:35 p.m. and left at 8:41 p.m., and were not charged when we scanned our ticket on exit.” (more…)

I want to warn your readers — The Metropolis parking garage on Wisconsin Ave. in Georgetown has dynamic pricing in effect. I used to pay $24 for six hours or so, but last month, I was charged $28 for only 38 minutes of parking. (more…)

Almost daily the neighborhood listserv are filled with almost the same messages about “duct cleaning” group rates. These are email addresses that get on local listservs and then email about some group rate. By now we all know it’s fake, but is this a city-wide scam?

Have you heard of this? I found this “ticket” on my car parked on 15th St on the residential side along Meridian Hill. It initially made me question it because the material is much more thick/construction papery than a typical parking ticket. I was parked in my proper zone with a permit. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
Around 2pm Wed., Nov 26, I was finishing lunch at the Farragut West LebTav when I heard shots and saw people running. The other customers and staff dropped to the ground and crawled behind the cashier counter. I found a small closet to hide in, but soon realized it may not be the best place to hide since I couldn’t lock the door. Outside, I heard the staff leading customers further back into the kitchen. I exited the closet and followed. LebTav staff led us to a back stairwell where we discussed whether to leave through a back exit or go upstairs to hide. We waited in the stairwell for a few minutes, with children and adults crying and hyperventilating from fear and shock amid the uncertainty of what was happening and whether we were even safe.
The LebTav staff acted as a kind of buffer between what was happening across the street and our hide out. Eventually, (more…)

We had reservations last night for 8pm at Founding Farmers DC. When we got there, they told us it would be at least 9pm before they could seat us for our 8pm reservation. Meanwhile, our choice for waiting was either shoulder-to-shoulder standing room in the bar or entrance area or wait outside in the cold. I didn’t like either option and left.
My friend said he expected that. I think they might have overbooked. Did they think they were going to be able to seat people outside under their sidewalk heaters? Is this normal? It was my first year not cooking in a long time, so I don’t know. Either way, it was a disappointment.”
