“Dear PoPville,

My friends and I are trying to do the impossible, meet single, straight thirty-something men in the wild. We’ve tried cigar bars, we’ve tried sports bars, and some of us have even tried kickball. Now it’s time to crowdsource. Where do straight, single guys who are no longer on their parent’s health insurance go out in this city?”

“Dear PoPville,

I’ve been having a lot of conversations with me and my single friends (men and women) who are very sick of the dating apps. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I wanted to flag WMATA’s clusterf**k of a rollout of the new (old) S2 and S9 routes and hopefully save people from waiting for a bus that may never come. This week, WMATA rolled the S2/9 routes back to 16th between K and M after about a year of running that strip on 15th. However, they didn’t inform passengers or drivers clearly of this change. Sometimes buses take the old route, sometimes the new one, so it’s roulette getting a bus at either stop right now. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I’m wondering if you or your readers may have any updates on the development at 901 Monroe St NE in Brookland – or maybe it’s stalled indefinitely?

901 Monroe is the vacant lot directly across from the Brookland metro station’s bus loop and, according to old PoPville posts, no progress has been made following demolition over ten years ago. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I’ve called MPD and they refer to parking enforcement then they said it’s a “Department of Public Works” issue and nothing happens. The neighbor drives the car everyday so I can’t refer to it as “abandoned.” I looked up its tags (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Thursday, Nov 30 around 2:30 in the afternoon I was on my bicycle crossing through the crosswalk that connects the GW Parkway to the Key Bridge when a car accelerated into me, throwing me to the curb and consequently the hospital. In the chaos that followed, I knew there were witnesses, as one had helped call 911 and retrieve my belongings from the roadway, (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

My partner and I are about to begin the process for submitting for her residency in the US! This is an exciting time for us. We’re looking for a certified translator in the DMV who can translate her birth certificate written in Spanish. I’ve seen some quotes in the $200-300 range, which seems a bit exorbitant and beyond the market price. If any in the community know of certified translators who could do this work for less, it would be much appreciated! Thanks!”
