“Dear PoPville,

I just had the worst experience with an uber (Thursday night). I requested an Uber XL to pick me up from a baan siam and drop me home. The uber arrived opened the the trunk of his car. I asked him to flip down the back seat so we could get my wheelchair in. The driver said okay, got in his car and drove away canceling the trip. (more…)

Ed. Note: If this was a “DC Slow Street, please note that local traffic (IE if you live on the street) is still allowed but the speed limit is set at 15 miles per hour.

“Dear PoPville,

After returning home by car running an errand, my car was blocked from entering my own residential block from an intersection by an aggressively righteous runner. Mind you, he was running against traffic in the oncoming lane, on the street, while not a soul was present on the sidewalk. The man was principled – he literally stood his ground in front of my car by refusing to move, and enthusiastically demanded that I back into the intersection to enter through the oncoming lane where other cars were moving. “Dear PoPville,

Have people been noticing more small bugs, roaches, and other strange insects in their homes these days? Any ideas for pest control (company recommendations or at home solutions)? We’re in a rowhouse in Petworth.”

“Dear PoPville,

I’m hoping your readers can help me out. I’m a current DC resident with a car registered in DC. I’m in the process of trading in my car and purchasing a used car from a dealer out of state. The DC DMV requires an in person visit to register a new or used vehicle. As we’ve all realized, the DMV is appointment only and when I last checked there were no appointments available through April 2021. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Local colleges have gone remote for the most part for the fall, so many students are not planning to return to dc anytime soon. A student tenant, who is not returning for fall, recently stop paying his share of rent for a group house. He has been trying to find someone to take over his responsibilities for the lease, without much luck. I am curious if and how other landlords may be dealing with similar student tenant issues, since there are a lot of colleges in DC. Thank you.”

“Dear PoPville,

I live on Euclid in Columbia Heights. Our entire building’s mail was bundled with a neighboring building and tossed at our front steps. It contained almost every mail in ballot for the November election. Lucky one of our residents noticed the bundle and brought it inside. Definitely not a normal delivery.”

From DC Board of Elections:

“Please remember that as ballots are arriving, they are being mailed in batches. Not everyone in the same household will receive their ballots on the same day.”

“Dear PoPville,

Hoping I could request a repost of this from 9.5 years ago. I am going through this process now and came across this post that is word-for-word what I’m looking for.

‘We own a row house in Columbia Heights with the usual small front and back patio options that are common in the neighborhood. We’re looking to re-design and improve, but it seems like most of the companies you find in the usual Google/AngiesList/etc searching are Virginia/Maryland focused outfits that are more used to larger spaces. We’re not looking for anything specialized — a brick/stone patio and some landscaping will likely do. But we’re worried these larger companies may not meet our needs.

Wondering if any readers have used a local company that specializes in maximizing our smaller, unique spaces?”

Anyone have a small outdoor space redone? Who’d you use and roughly how much did it cost?’

Small DC rowhome with a tiny yard. Lots of landscaping services only do big projects. I went through all the comments and contacted ones still in business but around 50% were dead links.”
