“Dear PoPville,

On Thursday 04/01 in the morning I opened the door for a tall gentleman going into Tryst in AdMo. I insisted on holding the door until he walked through and he quipped at me with “Wow, chivalry is alive and well!”

All the tables were filled so I sat outside in the early spring chill and he came up to me and offered to share his table in the back since I wasn’t wearing a jacket. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

We own our home in DC, and have lived in it for about 3 years. We’ve always gotten the odd piece of mail here or there that was addressed to the wrong person, and I just chalked this up to quadrant typos (something getting sent to NE vs NW) or just a mistake. However, over the past few months, we have been getting 1-2 letters a week addressed to different people, with a variety of names. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I have lived in DC for 9 years and Columbia Heights for 6 years, and I love the community we have. I need your help identifying a sexual predator I was surprised to find on my (basement level) patio last night, at approximately 11:40pm. This transpired in the alley between Holmead and 13th St NW, between Otis and Monroe.

I looked out my bedroom window to notice the motion light had been activated, and when I looked more closely I saw a man with no pants on, (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I am wondering what people’s favorite “gray area” companies that sell a product and give away bonus gifts of marijuana. Hard to know what’s legit from a google search and Congress hasn’t been working fast enough to unblock sales in the district.”

“Dear PoPville,

I recently bought a new car and I’m looking to install a hitch (I already purchased it and have it in my possession) so I can then attach my bike rack. I am not handy in any way, so I need to get it professionally installed. I’m having a hard time finding anywhere in and around the DMV that offers this service, so I’m wondering if anyone with experience has any suggestions? Including the price for labor would be very helpful as well.”

Last night around 1am a few folks started asking “Am I the only one who had their entire building shake like an earthquake? (13th and Clifton)”

“I live here too. Yea, it kinda scared me and my gf. Whole building shook.”

Daniel replies: “Huge tree fell in the Clifton Terrace/Wardman courtyard. Assume that was what you heard/felt.”

“Dear PoPville,

We live in Eckington and have not received mail for over a week now. This has been an ongoing issue in our neighborhood for months now. I’m now waiting on receiving an important prescription medication that is late. Is there anything we can do? (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I had recently gotten my first vaccine dose on March 25th at the Convention Center. I had signed up for pre-registration through the DC.gov website and also through GW Hospital (I had received a separate email through GW telling me to fill out an eligibility questionnaire and if I qualified, I would receive an email from them inviting me to schedule an appointment.) DC gov responded first and I was able to get my first Pfizer dose on the 25th. My vaccine card states that the Healthcare Professional or Clinic Site was GWH (GW Hospital) even though I received it at the Convention Center.

After I received the shot, I asked the nurse who administered it about my second vaccine dose. She told me that I would get an email to schedule it in a day or two. When I checked my emails, I did receive an email from GW, but it specifically said it was for my 1st dose. And regardless, all of the appointments were booked for the time frame that I needed the second dose.

I called GW and they told me that they had nothing to do with the shots that are administered from the Convention Center, that they have a “partnership” but they are not directly responsible. (more…)
