“Dear PoPville,
When I was walking across the bridge from Woodley Park to Adams Morgan Friday afternoon, I was stopped by a couple that seemed to be in their 20s-30s. They said they were locked out of their car and needed to borrow money for a locksmith or something. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
Just wanted to share what happened to me tonight (Thursday.) I was on Florida Ave and decided to walk home around 8pm. While I was on Rhode Island Ave near the gas station that has the Dunkin attached to it and waiting to cross the street, a man approached me and spit in my face. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
To the tall, brunette using bikeshare (at Thomas Circle) who asked me to join him to see the monuments late last night (Saturday) before I offered him a slice of detroit style pizza, I’d love to connect. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
Looking to finally bite the bullet and go to the fireworks on the National Mall. But I have no idea what I’m getting myself into – how early do I need to arrive for the 9pm show? Any tips for a first timer? I know it will be hot and crowded, but I want to experience it once!”

“Dear PoPville,
Would love recommendations for a good prenatal massage in the area. Bonus if it includes a full on spa day with a pool and such. Willing to travel up to 20 miles for a full spa day. Thanks!!”

Ed. Note: Sounds like the standard ‘adult swim’ common at many private pools. Which makes sense. What I don’t understand is why this also applies to the kids pool (a separate shallow pool not attached used what seems exclusively by children and their adults of course.) Anyway, OP’s question:
“Dear PoPville,
I am hoping someone can explain the 15-minute break some DC outdoor pools require every hour. I always thought the reason was to give the lifeguards a break, so that they’d be sharply focused when they’re needed. But twice in the past couple of weeks at Francis pool, the lifeguards have required only kids to get out for 15 minutes, not adults. So, the lifeguards have to continue being vigilant during that time–and kids have to watch adults swimming and know that they can’t.
Anyone know what the reason is behind this policy? I tried to find it on the DC Parks & Rec website, but had no luck.”

“Dear PoPville,
Missed connection: Last Wednesday (6/29) in Sheridan, Wyoming, en route to DC
You: took the last photo on our disposable underwater camera on the Sheridan tarmac. The film is developed and turns out you’re a 12/10 impromptu photographer, (more…)

Ashley asks: “Is this (American Ice Company’s July 4th neighborhood cookout) a kid friendly or unfriendly thing? I’m now the friend who’s friends all have kids and have to adapt. I know some places are cool w/ it and others aren’t. Some make exceptions for holidays, so I guess I’m throwing it out there for friendly, non-judgmental opinions.”

“Dear PoPville,
On Monday morning 6/28 I was stopped by a cute guy raising awareness for the Special Olympics at the corner of 14th and U. We had a short, but funny conversation and I would’ve loved to speak to him more, but I had to catch the bus! (more…)
