“Dear PoPville,
I was hoping to query the hive mind. We recently purchased an entirely gutted home and are in the process of permits and renovations. We had it suggested to us to have a third party inspector come to inspect work as it would be faster than DCRA. I was wondering if folks have experience with this and if there are any recommendations.”

“Dear PoPville,
Redevelopment of the former Cobalt and Townhouse Tavern building seems to have stopped months ago. Marwick Associates’ website still lists the property as a project for residential redevelopment, but there is no visible activity.”

“Any idea what’s going to happen to the abandoned building on the corner of 17th and R NW? Right across from Dupont Italian Kitchen, I’ve been seeing construction workers there and scaffolding, but can’t tell if any progress is being made & what towards.

I gave it to him, not thinking that it was odd the driver was not calling me through the app as usual. (more…)

Adam Nathaniel Peck writes earlier this morning: “Wasting absolutely no time, a woman bursts into Compass Coffee unmasked, and is insistent that the mask mandate is lifted as of today (it isn’t) when gently asked to put one on (she doesn’t). It’s been 18 months people, the least you can do is wait 2 more days sheesh.”

“Dear PoPville,
Here’s a new one. I’m used to having my card number skimmed at various places but this situation takes the cake. I’ve been waiting for a new credit card to arrive in the mail but never got it. Yesterday I received a notification that a purchase at the Sunoco two blocks from me (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
I’m trying to find places to rent a small amount of tables and chairs for hosting Thanksgiving. Just hoping I don’t have to make my mother in law eat on the couch.”

“Dear PoPville,
I just wanted to highlight a new business I haven’t seen anywhere in the media and deserves the hype. The rice bar in NoMa is now Taco de Birria serving birria tacos and burritos. (more…)
