These signs are all over Dupont – are they actually legal? I can’t imagine people will follow unless they get permits from the city.”

“Dear PoPville,
I have a PEPCO related question. I live in a small, four unit condo building with identical 1.5 bedroom (roughly 700 sq ft) condos. I got a PEPCO bill this month that was more than double my previous bill ($114). I have friends living in 2,000 sq ft that are paying less. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
Bear with me, this is a little unorthodox. I’m trying to get in contact with someone who lives at Union Row (Union Row Flats, Warehouses at Union Row) who would like to make some extra money.
I would like to negotiate a deal to pay a monthly fee for access to the resident parking garage so that I can park my bicycle. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
I have a friend who is coming to DC from an EU country. She’s fully vaxxed and has the EU QR code and all, but are people in DC bars and restaurants even going to recognize or accept that. What is she supposed to do? I can’t find any information online and I suspect that anything the DC government says probably isn’t matching the reality on the ground.’

“Dear PoPville,
Sunday morning around 10:30 Am I was riding an ebike at 14th and U St, NW and I crashed.
It probably did not appear that bad but with my 3 metal joints I was laying on the ground in severe pain. A nice man walked over picked up the e bike for me and asked if I was OK. I was so embarrassed that I got up and said thank you and told him I was fine when I really just wanted to lay there. Lol
He could have went about his day like everybody else but it’s good to be reminded that there are sweet people in this world. And I just wanted to express my gratitude in that moment.“

“Dear PoPville,
January 19, 2022 — The Wharf ice-skating rink, Curling & Cocktails. Early in the event, my friend and I were randomly paired by the organizers with a couple (male and female) to do curling. I don’t remember either of their names. I asked the man to use my phone to take photos. And he took the most amazing photos, I’d like to hire him for a business-related photo shoot, but I don’t know how to reach him. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
I live in a newer apartment building in NoMa & after living here for a year, my landlord wants to raise my rent by 45%. Do you know if there are any restrictions limiting rent increases in non-rent-controlled buildings (which as I understand, are built pre-1975)?”

Erin writes: “I’m desperate! Can’t find a good chicken Caesar wrap in the city since cafe tu-o-tu shut down.”
For me the one at Crisp & Juicy is hands down the best. But the one I consume the most (or did in the before days anyway): (more…)

One reader explains: “One of these was purchased in November 2020, the other November 2021.
We had ambitious plans to use the 2020 tree as firewood, but clearly never got around to it.”

“Dear PoPville,
Just watched the garbage pickup folks skip the Christmas trees on a regular pickup day for the second time. The mayor’s press release said they were supposed to start taking them on 1/3. Is that not happening anymore?
Update on this! A neighbor chased down the sanitation workers and they stated that households have to put in a request thru the 311 app in order to get trees picked up (more…)
