“Dear PoPville,

I recently moved home to Michigan, but still have my DC plates on my car, will be changing them over to Michigan when it’s my birthday (they do renewals here old timey and they happen on your birthday, not just any day!)

Brief history of Michigan motor department laws aside, I woke up this morning to three letters from the DC DMV of three unpaid parking tickets, (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Why am I/what’s the reasoning behind me being unable to sign up for an online account at mytaxdc as a first time DC filer? I get that the process just doesn’t work that way but do you know/have any leads on the WHY? It makes no sense to me that to get an online account at the site to file your taxes, you have to have already filed DC taxes previously..”

“Dear PoPville,

Our next door neighbors are doing a gut job reno (after work being stopped for not having proper permits…) we haven’t been notified because their permits say they aren’t doing structural work. That being said, the construction is kicking up a huge amount of dust in our partially finished basement, where we have a large amount of our personal belongings in storage and use as an office. What, if any, responsibility does the neighbor have for remediation or protection of our belongings? (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Extreme city and environmental waste going on at Harry Thomas rec center. The Harry Thomas pool is overflowing and DPR is closed. The water is running at full strength. Do you know anyone who may be able to turn it off this holiday weekend?”

Ed. Note: I’m tagging 311, DPR and Ward 5 reps on twitter, hopefully someone will be able to address.

Update from DPR on twitter “We will address this. Thanks for flagging.”

“Dear PoPville,

Just a PSA in case this has happened to other readers:

My credit card number was stolen when I was delivering our second child at Sibley. Aside from some routine online purchases we made before Baby arrived, the only time it had been swiped was when we were paying for parking at the hospital. So we’re not 100% sure that the parking machine had a device to skim the number, but it’s the theory that makes the most sense to us so far.”
