“Dear PoPville,

Just wanted to write in and let you know DCRA is flexing its incompetent muscles again and inexplicably classified a chunk of occupied homes in DC as vacant properties. They then didn’t notify the homeowners and then let us all find out through OTR with our second half 2022 property tax payments. A lot of people opened the mail on 8/8 to $20,000+ half year property tax bills on homes that typically have $2-4k half year bills.

When we contacted DCRA , the person said “yeah, we’ve been getting a lot of calls about this today.” (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

We’re hoping someone can provide an update about a dog-related incident Sunday in Rock Creek Park. My husband was hiking when he heard dogs barking and a woman screaming. A pit bull was attacking her dog and she was trying to separate them. “Dear PoPville,

I’d be interested in hearing from the PoPville community about recommendations for a goodbye party! I use the the term “party” loosely. Where in DC is a good spot to stake out a table (or two) for the afternoon and invite friends to come and say bye?”

“Dear PoPville,

I am hoping someone from the community may have a better camera angle or may have seen something to help identify the car that hit my car. This happened on 10th and Spring Rd in front of Raymond Elementary School (Friday)..”

“Dear PoPville,

I’m a volunteer puppy raiser and the DC Group Leader for the Guide Dog Foundation and America’s VetDogs. GDF and AVD are the organizations behind Biscuit and Captain (the Capitals team dogs) and Sully (President George H.W. Bush’s service dog and the current Walter Reed facility dog). Our programs are currently facing an urgent need for volunteer puppy raisers in the coming months.

The Guide Dog Foundation and America’s VetDogs breed, raise, train, and place guide dogs for people who are blind or visually impaired and service dogs for veterans and first responders with disabilities, including PTSD. Volunteer puppy raisers are a vital part of each dog’s journey towards changing someone’s life, and we have an urgent need for more raisers in the next few months. (more…)
