“Dear PoPville,

On 8/24 at 4 pm, I was doored by a parked Zipcar user while riding west on R just before 20th St. near Dupont, breaking my clavicle and generally making life terrible. I know it was a while ago, but did anyone witness it?”

Witnesses can DM OP here.

“Dear PoPville,

I’m looking for a way to meet people (I work from home and am cautious about Covid) while still being outdoors. Do you know of any groups in the area that meet somewhat regularly (walking, hiking, etc.)?”

Some previous hiking recs in comments here but please add current options below. I think REI do group outings?

“Dear PoPville,

I know I’m going to push a lot of buttons here, but as a Southern California girl who grew up eating a true Jewish Delicatessens, I’d hands down say one of the best pastrami Reuben’s in DC is at the carving room in NoMa.

Had to pass this along.”

Ed. Note: And my God does the pastrami poblano sandwich look good too: (more…)

Ed. Note: It sounds like it could be related to the 3:45pm shooting near the Petworth metro yesterday afternoon.

“Dear PoPville,

Any idea what was happened on the red line yesterday? I was on a north-bound red line train around 4:15 in the afternoon, and when we got to Fort Totten, the police held the train after departing passengers got off (though those of us who were continuing north remained on the train). Officers (with guns unholstered) stood at every open door and did not allow anyone to enter the train (but also didn’t direct those of us on the train to get off). Then a group of police (with guns drawn, shields up, and “SWAT” emblazoned on uniforms) moved from car to car doing what appeared to be a sweep. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Does anyone know the plan to (hopefully) redevelop the property at 1900 7th St NW where the abandoned CVS is? This area has turned into an open air drug market, including the Wells Fargo and the area across from the Howard Theater. A redevelopment of that property would certainly help the situation.”
