4200 block Fessenden Street, NW just off Wisconsin Ave
“Dear PoPville,
This is sad. These three businesses on Fesseden all got broken into last night. Glass doors all shattered. The Coffee Nature guy said nothing but spare change was stolen. All the businesses are cleaning up and really sad. The police just left. I was there when the workers at Sol Mexican Grill showed up for work to find the police in front of their restaurant. Pretty sad to see them just stand there staring at the door.”
If anyone lives nearby, it’d be great to shower them with love today/this weekend:

“Dear PoPville,
A few times in the last several weeks, my wife and I have tried to go to our closest CVS at Georgia and New Hampshire, but when we’ve approached the front door, there’s a hand-written sign in the window that says the store is closed at the moment, and the metal door is pulled down. (more…)

Martin sends the sad news:
“Congress Market, my favorite neighborhood bodega, is closing its doors. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve popped in here over the nearly ten years I’ve lived on Capitol Hill, and I guarantee you I turn the corner of 5th and East Capitol and try and pop in again out of habit at least a few more times. What a loss.”

3220 17th Street, NW entrance on Mount Pleasant Street
Thanks to Cassidy for sending: “For June I wanted to share my favorite pride flag at the Argyle Market in Mount Pleasant. I appreciate whoever put up the air freshener rainbow, it cracks me up and I love it. It’s up there all year round.”

2616 Connecticut Ave, NW
“Dear PoPville,
I recently overheard a conversation inside ACE Hardware in Woodley Park. A staff member was telling a customer that the store would be closing permanently in a month or two, because it had never made a profit in its 10 year history. Say it ain’t so!”
The owners sadly confirm the coming closing: “We will be closing in August and our team members will be transferred to another one of our locations if they would like to continue to work with us.” (more…)
