“Dear PoPville,
On DC USA’s operator’s site, it shows a picture of a “proposed storefront redesign”, which seems designed to cater to a more upscale set of retailers, such as those selling… penny farthing bicycles. [Ed. Note: See far right hand side of rendering above.]
It looks like it’s dated from December 2018, Do you know anything about this?
Since this has been up, DC USA has lost two more tenants (Panera and Payless), and has over ten vacancies on the first floor. (more…)

Update Mr.TinDC reports Tuesday morning:
“I was just there – staff said they are actually closed for good now. Employees are packing up the store, and finishing a few service jobs (including some work on one of my bikes). Front doors are locked.”

Forever 21 opened up here with much fanfare back in 2010. CNBC reported yesterday:
“Apparel retailer Forever 21 is considering filing for bankruptcy as efforts to restructure its debt run dry, a person familiar with the situation told CNBC.” Thanks to a reader for the sending me the listing above:

A tipster reports:
“it looks like BicycleSPACE in downtown is closing its doors. Final day from what I heard is on Monday, Labor Day.
I know they had a shop in Adams Morgan that closed in October 2018. That makes 2 of their 3 shops closing in less than a year.”
Ed. Note: Their third location is in Ivy City. I’ve emailed for confirmation about K Street and will update when/if I hear back.
