Update on Brookland’s Finest from the Brookland Listserv:

I am very pleased to provide you with the final copy of the Settlement Agreement negotiated with Brookland’s Finest LLC on behalf of residents in the immediate vicinity of the Restaurant’s location at 3126-3128 12th Street NE. This agreement, which was signed this evening, came about as a result of a meeting of those residents held nearly a month ago, where they brought forth their concerns and proposed ways of addressing them. This led to a series of negotiations with Brookland’s Finest, in person and by email, which culminated in the attached agreement. Residents in the immediate vicinity of the Restaurant were present and provided feedback during all of these discussions. I was also well advised during this process by very competent legal counsel who are experts in DC’s alcohol regulations.

I also wanted to take a moment to commend the Brookland’s Finest team for their amazing cooperation in getting this agreement done. They listened carefully to the residents’ concerns and proposed constructive solutions.

Eater DC shares the news:

“superstar chef Daniel Boulud will open a DBGB Kitchen & Bar in the city.”

Eater also says that Boulud has been negotiating for a space in CityCenter near the Convention Center. Stay tuned.

Malmaison: Opening June 17th!

The Popal family, best known for Napoleon Bistro and Café Bonaparte, is pleased to announce the expansion of their French culinary dossier with Malmaison, Georgetown’s newest upscale café and bar, catering to the sophisticated palette of the savvy, well-traveled Washingtonian. Malmaison was the first home of Napoleon and his wife Josephine and this concept aims to provide the ambiance of an international retreat right on the banks of Georgetown’s Waterfront. Malmaison will be open for lunch and dinner, six days a week – Tuesday through Sunday – through Labor Day weekend. Lunch at Malmaison will include a range of soups, salads and sandwiches. Dinner entrée selections notably include Roasted Tomato and Fresh Mozzarella Ravioli with Basil Sauce and Arugula Salad, Homemade Duck Confit with Sautéed Potatoes with Frisee Salad and Glazed Vegetables and Cod with a Crust of Mushrooms and Relish of Shallots and Herbs.

Back in March we learned the Right Proper Brew Pub has leased the space next to the Howard Theatre in Shaw. At that time they were still fundraising and explained:

We want to create a neighborhood gathering place that makes and serves well-priced delicious food and amazing fresh beer; we want to help our neighborhood thrive by investing in the community and its residents; and we want to anchor Washington, DC on the map as a destination for craft beer.

The liquor license application says:

Full Service Tavern with a Brew Pub serving Pub Fair and house made beer with a full service food menu in a family friendly environment.

The seating capacity is 115 with a total occupancy of 155. They hope to be open Monday through Sunday 11:30 am – 1:00 am.

And the copper window borders are looking sweet:
