More big news for the 14th Street corridor. I hear from a very good source that the owners of Federal and Palace5ive (2216 14th St, NW) are opening a neighborhood tavern in the former Dynasty Ethiopian Restaurant space. The space is located right between Piola and JUDY restaurant just south of Florida Ave. Word is that it will be a very chill spot with beer in cans. More info when it becomes available.
10th and H Street, NE
On Monday we noted that the building that was to have been the future home a Ben’s Chili Bowl had been torn down. Today @codykrice tweets:
“Per [ANC] 6A chair, ZA says Ben’s Chili on #HStNE razed bldg w/o permit, approved plans depended on incentives for preserving facade.
May take a while to sort out. New construction would have different reqs than adaptive reuse or facade preservation.”
1010 Massachusetts Ave, NW
The Bolt Burgers coming to 11th and Mass Ave, NW has an opening date – Nov. 10th. They will be open 11am-11pm seven days a week.

La Dulce Noche will be located in the long vacant Sherrill Seafood House building next to La Molienda at 14th and Perry Pl, NW. A liquor license application posted out front doesn’t reveal a lot of info but says:
“Serving international food. Occupancy 95”

It feels like we’ve been waiting a long time for this. Thanks to all who sent emails. You can see Kraze Burgers’ menu here. Hours are Monday-Sunday 11am-10pm.
At first just the Potbelly at 1635 Connecticut Ave, NW had anticipated closing for only a couple of days but apparently they need to do some more extensive renovations:

The building soon to be home of Amsterdam Falafel on 14th Street is starting to look good (I admit I will still miss the old mural.) Amazing what a new coat of paint can do:
Amsterdam Falafel has also applied for a liquor license at this location which says:
“New restaurant serving falafel and related foods, no entertainment, no dancing. Seating capacity is 45. Total occupancy load is 59.”
Hours of operation will be Sunday and Monday 10am-12am; Tuesday and Wednesday 10am-2:30am; Thursday 10am-3am and Friday & Saturday 10am-4am.
