Wow that was fast. Readers report:

“In restaurant closure news, it looks like the Pie 360 on K Street (btw 6th and 7th) might be gone for good. There is a handwritten “closed” sign on the door, and it’s a little hard to see in the photos but the pizza oven and all the equipment has been removed. The Pie 360 opened last September.”

Eleanor ivy city

Holy mackerel – my dream is becoming a reality!! For those still doubting the hotness of Ivy City – behold The Eleanor from Adam Stein and Nick Freshman:

“The Eleanor will be a Bar and Restaurant from several of the city’s industry veterans. Located at 1900 Kendall Street, Washington, D.C. in the Ivy City Neighborhood, the space is just under 7000 square feet to accommodate four bowling lanes, event/music space, movie screen, bar, arcade, large outdoor patio, and kitchen. From bar stools, to high-top seating, couches/lounge areas for seating at the lanes, and outdoor patio, we are expecting an occupancy of around 300 people. (more…)

A reader reports last week while I was gone:

“I stopped by and the restaurant was dark with a closed sign on it. I ate there last week and the place was packed, any idea what happened?? There are not many good, moderately priced restaurants in Chinatown, this place will be missed!”

Asian Spice wrote April 12th:

“Asian Spice is closed. The employees wish to thank all our fabulous regulars, neighbors in Chinatown and all the other people who made Asian Spice a special place for the last ten years. We will miss you.
Best regards,
The staff of Asian Spice”

Updates when we learn what becomes of the prime space.

“Brookland’s Finest Bar & Kitchen has introduced a Spring menu featuring new seasonal drinks and food items to highlight the best local, in-season ingredients. The menu, created by executive chef and co-owner Shannan Troncoso, includes a variety of new offerings, such as a Warm Spring Salad of red lentils, butter beans, morel mushrooms, sweet peas and zucchini topped with a warm vinaigrette; Vegan Carpaccio with heirloom tomatoes, cucumber, pea tendrils, almonds, and hibiscus vinaigrette; and Octopus Risotto with heirloom tomatoes, English peas and grilled lemon. Some highlights from the new Spring drink menu include the Spicy Situation made with chacho jalapeno infused Aguardiente with fresh lime juice; the Hail Mary made with choice of Bulleit Rye or Afrohead Rum, grapefruit juice, apricot syrup and rosemary; the Cool J, a cucumber infused Ivy City Gin cocktail with fresh lime and lemon juice; and a daily selection of Draught Cocktails.”

siren
1515 Rhode Island Ave, NW

From a press release:

“At Siren by Robert Wiedmaier within The Darcy hotel, the dining room has a jaunty nautical air, and the menu is driven by the whims of wind and currents as they affect the availability of the world’s most delectable seafood. As an avid fisherman, Wiedmaier is reeling in the kinds of trophy fish that deserve that sacred spot on the living room wall. When Siren opens in late April 2017, it will bring a distinctly salty breeze to the Rhode Island Avenue corridor between Washington, DC’s Dupont and Logan Circles. (more…)

Got a lot of emails about Slim’s Diner being closed by the Department of Health. One reader reports:

“Do you have any info on what happened to Slim’s? They’ve been closed at least since Friday due to some sort of health inspection violation. Their twitter just says something about needing to fix their grease trap…”
