From American City Diner:

“Thank you so much to all of our longtime customers and the amazing community of Chevy Chase, DC for your support over the past 30+ years. It’s been a privilege serving you but the time has come for the American City Diner to close its doors. We will forever be grateful to Jeffrey Gildenhorn for bringing this beloved institution to Connecticut Ave.”

In September 2017 a fundraiser was launched after the sudden passing of owner Jeffrey Gildenhorn in June 2017.

Updates when we learn what becomes of the space.

Update Nov. 17th: Thanks to Nate for sending: “Kokeb is indeed still making terrific Ethiopian food.”

Whoa! Kokeb switched from Ethiopian to Pupusas and Camarones Entomatados (and more).  Any fans?

“Dear PoPville,

I need your help!

My husband and I are looking for a fantastic anniversary plan to celebrate 10 years of marriage mid-July. We have a big vacation planned later this year but want to do something special the day of. What is special, beautiful, delicious enough without totally wrecking our budget? Ideally we’d stay in the $200 range for the two of us, some drinks, and of course dessert. Also any alternative plans if dinner doesn’t pan out. Ultimately, I rented a sweet dress on RTR and need somewhere to wear it!

Thank you!

From a press release:

“It has been two years since the emblematic Cuban social hub, Colada Shop, opened its doors in the DMV area and brought to Washingtonians the fascinating culinary landscape of the islands’ favorite bites and drinks. Today, Colada Shop continues to embody the spirit of the island and celebrate this vibrant and energetic culture.
