From a press release:

SIGN OF THE WHALE, is pleased to announce it reopened on Wednesday, February 10th. Sign of the Whale, the D.C. institution known for decades as the ultimate intern hang out, has closed and reopened its doors more than a couple of times. “Dear PoPville,

Suffice it to say, we are all starting to lose our minds over quarantine. I’m a vaccinated health care worker. My husband works from home. We have skewed to the more conservative side of quarantining. I do the groceries and that’s about all we do outside of the house aside from walks around the neighborhood, arboretum, etc. We went to a restaurant once in October and both felt uncomfortable with the proximity to other people, physical interactions with staff. That being said, it sounds like restaurants are learning to step up and adapt in innovative ways. I know there is an inherent risk with all interactions these days, but I was hoping for recommendations for any restaurant/bars that readers thought were handling COVID service especially well. We appreciate any input!”

Just across the street from the prior location, it appears a shop is being put together. The best part? We could see a Pleasant Pops sign inside when we briefly peaked in the window!

Literally in view of the old location: (more…)
