Thanks to Kendra for passing on the sad news about Santa Rosa (315 Pennsylvania Ave, SE): “This is really sad. ⁦@SantaRosaTacos is closed for the rest of the year. A lot of Captiol Hill dwellers have been waiting patiently for ⁦@chefspike to reopen after they said they were doing a short remodel. We will miss the queso!”

Update from Corey Holman: “Fear not, the new location isn’t far. Per various public documents, they’ll be moving to the old Pret space 7 doors down at 301 Pennsylvania Ave SE.” (more…)

“My dear friends,

As you all know, last spring Mari Vanna closed its doors. It was a very sad time for our DC team, and we were sad to be missing from your lives at such trying times.

Why did this happen? Because, despite trying their best, the franchise holders could not weather the pandemic. We know many thought that this is the sad end for Mari Vanna’s beloved home in DC.

Who makes the best Reuben in town?

Even great delis can make bad Reubens so it’s hard to know from looking at overall reviews, would appreciate some targeted suggestions. Opinions about corned beef sandwiches also appreciated, but mostly looking for a great Reuben. I’m sure there will be some opinions out there!”
