I was skeptical about ordering wings from a bookstore. But my palette has never been happier to have my intuition be proven wrong.

Fedwings is tucked in the kitchen section of Kramer’s Bookstore in Dupont Circle. I ordered the medium wing combo–my only regret is that I didn’t order the large. Not because it wasn’t enough food, because it certainly was. These wings–my lord, these wings–I’ll be dreaming about for years to come. (more…)



925 U Street, NW at Vermont Ave

Yesterday we learned that Juicy King Crab House was coming to Adams Morgan and today we got the press release (actually sent yesterday but I didn’t want to overwhelm you) for the Chesapeake Crab Shack & Bar. Back in January we shared the news that “an outdoor-focused fun concept with guest seating exclusively outside. Full bar with local beers only” was coming here. Now all the details:

“Chesapeake, a new crab shack and seafood house with a full bar, is coming to the heart of U Street later this year. The new restaurant, from the owners of Duke’s Grocery, Duke’s Counter and Gogi Yogi, will feature a casual dockside vibe along with a variety of shellfish options and a vibrant bar scene. Guests can expect fresh squeezed crushes, and all beers will be locally sourced from breweries in the District, Maryland and Virginia. (more…)

This is the former home to Thai Pho Bistro, (also named at points Saigon Bistro Pho and EurAsian) which closed last summer. The liquor license placard for Duffy’s Irish Pub here says:

In December we were pleasantly surprised to learn that Rodman’s had added a Cafe to their grocery (and whatever you want to call the awesomeness that is downstairs.) Now they’ve posted a liquor license placard that says:

“A new class D Restaurant located inside of a full-service grocery store serving breakfast, lunch and pastries. Seating capacity of 56, Total Occupancy Load of 87 and a Sidewalk Café with 56 Seats.” (more…)

“Beginning May 1st, the indoor capacity limit for non-essential retail businesses is raised from 25% to 50% or 250 people, whichever is lower.”
