“Dear PoPville,
My husband and I are trying to obtain our MPD Clearances for our adoption. We have gone in person, called and emailed but have received no word back. It it time sensitive…any idea of who to contract or reach out to to schedule and appointment?”
A few weeks ago we learned that public school kids could be getting some in person hybrid schooling starting November 9th. Some updates have now been revealed.

“The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announced a three-month research pilot for a bus lane camera at the intersection of Georgia Avenue NW and Bryant Street NW. The pilot is scheduled to begin on October 1, 2020 and will continue through January 1, 2021. (more…)
From DPR:
“On Tuesday, October 13, in consultation with the Bowser Administration, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) will open indoor pools on a modified schedule with social distancing guidelines and enhanced safety measures in place. Registration begins today, October 1. Participants must reserve a space online.
DPR will operate seven aquatic centers for structured programs and lap swimming only. Swimming reservations are limited to 45 minutes with one reservation per day and a four reservation maximum within a seven-day period. High touch surfaces will be cleaned between each time slot. As part of these safety measures, pool locker rooms will not be open for resident use.
DPR staff will ensure water chemistry readings are taken hourly. Water chemistry levels shall be maintained in compliance with current regulations from DC Health. Sanitizers used in pool operations are regulated by the District Department of the Environment (DDOE) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The following aquatic centers will operate Monday – Friday from 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. (closed 12:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m.), Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and will be closed on Sunday: (more…)

From the Mayor’s Office:
“Today, the Bowser Administration, through the DC Department of Public Works (DPW), announced important changes to the 2020-21 leaf collection season to keep residents and DPW crews safe and healthy. This year, residents will be asked to use a “contactless,” more environmentally-friendly process of placing their leaves in paper bags. Collections will still occur twice in each neighborhood, beginning November 9, 2020 through January 4, 2021. DPW will provide 20 free paper bags to each residence serviced by DPW to assist in the transition. (more…)

From the Mayor’s Office:
“Today, Mayor Bowser announced a pilot that will allow a limited number of venues to host live entertainment. The pilot creates an opportunity to resume live entertainment in a controlled environment that can be scaled up or down and that District officials can learn from for future guidance. The six venues that are invited to participate in the pilot include: City Winery, GALA Hispanic Theatre, Pearl Street Warehouse, The Kennedy Center, The Hamilton, and Union Stage.
Any participating venues are required to submit and execute detailed plans for operating and will be monitored closely by the District. The pilot will go through 11:59 p.m. on Friday, October 30. During the pilot period, the District will not be accepting waiver applications from any other venues.
In addition to the pilot, which is limited to the six venues listed above, the District is inviting operators of outdoor entertainment venues who have already submitted plans to the DC Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency through its waiver process to review the criteria for hosting live entertainment and resubmit their plans. The organizations that have been invited to resubmit plans for outdoor entertainment include: Adams Morgan Partnership BID, Arena Stage, Busboys and Poets, Capitol Riverfront BID, District Wharf, Et Voila Restaurant, Heist Group at the Kennedy Center, and The Bullpen.
The criteria requires that venues:
Sell or distribute tickets in advance of the event;
Have a maximum of fifty (50) persons, including attendees, performers, staff, and all other persons in the venue; (more…)
