“Dear PoPville,
I’m curious if anyone else is having issues with updating their voter registration in DC. My housemate and I moved to a different ward within DC at the end of August and have since been trying to update the address on our voter registration. We each sent back the infamous perforated mailers with our new address at the beginning of September and then both followed up by submitting an electronic address change form to the Board of Elections a little over a week ago, given neither of our addresses had been updated online (plus all the anxiety about the post office’s reliability). As of today though, it still hasn’t been updated. (more…)

“Mayor Muriel Bowser announced the investment of $4 million through the new Streatery Winter Ready Grant program to assist restaurants as they winterize their outdoor dining areas and maintain outdoor dining operations through the colder months. The Mayor’s Office of Nightlife & Culture (MONC), along with the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED), will provide grant recipients with $6,000 to purchase winterization materials such as tents, heaters, propane, lighting, furniture, advertising cost, and more. “Today, DC Health released an updated list of high-risk states where the seven-day moving average of daily new COVID-19 cases is 10 or more per 100,000 persons. Mayor Bowser issued Mayor’s Order 2020-081 with requirements for all people traveling into Washington, DC from high-risk states.
Anyone coming into Washington, DC from a high-risk state (within the prior 14 days) who was traveling for non-essential activities will be required to self-quarantine for 14 days from their arrival in the District. Individuals traveling from high-risk states after essential travel or arriving in the District for essential travel are required to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 for 14 days and, if they show signs or experience symptoms of COVID-19, they are to self-quarantine and seek medical advice or testing.
Travel to and from Maryland and Virginia is exempt from the Order. This list should be used until Monday, October 5.
States that were added to the updated list include: Alaska, Arizona, Delaware, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
States that were removed from the updated list include: California, Hawaii, and Ohio.

“Two initiatives to assist flood victims were announced by DC Water last night, including one that will give residents direct financial assistance with removing standing water damage in their homes.
The two programs are one time only and are aimed at helping customers who were impacted by the historically heavy rainfall of September 10 which caused heavy flooding in upper Northeast DC and across the region. (more…)

“The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will celebrate the District’s eighth annual Park(ing) Day on September 18, 2020. The annual event highlights the District’s Sustainable DC goals and kicks off World Car Free Day activities in the region.
“Park(ing) Day 2020 builds on Mayor Bowser’s efforts to reimagine public space, especially during the pandemic,” said DDOT Director Jeff Marootian. “This year’s event is an opportunity for Washingtonians to practice safe social distancing and use our collective imagination for creative ways to occupy the curbside space that don’t involve storing cars.”

First report I’ve heard of tickets being issued. Has anyone else seen and enforcement presence? If so, where?
