The victim reports:

“Early Saturday March 5th I discovered my car missing from it’s previous location at 13th and I St NE. While on the phone with 911 reporting the car stolen, two males crossed the street coming toward me. I started to walk in the opposite direction trying to put distance between us, but when I looked over my shoulder to ensure I was just being paranoid and they were actually walking elsewhere discovered they were directly behind me with a gun pointed at me. They took my phone (with 911 call still in progress), purse, wallet, etc. As I ran in the opposite direction hoping they wouldn’t shoot I looked over my shoulder and saw them get into a car waiting halfway down I street and take off toward Florida. I ran to H St and some really great guys that work at Queen Vic called 911 on my behalf and waited until the police arrived. Last week, MPD posted the video (above) hoping the public could help identify the POI shown. Would appreciate any help identifying him. MPD apparently offers a $10,000 reward for any info that leads to an arrest.

Obviously, all the things taken are replaceable and I’m happy to have escaped unharmed physically, but my well being has been disrupted 10 fold after having a gun put in my face and it’d be great if the police could arrest the guys that did it.”

“Dear PoPville,

There have been 4 smash and grab break-ins (two last week, and two today) on Cathedral Ave, (2500 block?) – where we have a lot of people parking and then going to the zoo. They seem to be targeting SUVs. Anyone else reporting this across the city in the past week?”

Again, no preaching please (my sisyphean request…) just keep an eye out. Thanks!

From the Forum:

“Computer and hard drive stolen from P and Marion St. NW around 1:20pm today 3/10/16.

Small black, rectangular hard drive with rounded edges and cord attached. Housed in a logic brand case that is darker red.

I’m a student, with very limited money. I am most interested in the files about my many years of study that are on the hard drive and computer and would love to recover them. The physical computer is not what is most important to me. I am interested in working out an anonymous way for the external hard drive to be returned with the files on it – no questions asked. I just want my many years of work back.

Or if you have any info on the whereabouts of either items, it would be much appreciated. Attached is an image of the hard drive case.”

A reader reports:

“I wanted to highlight there was a hit and run on P St. NW in Shaw at some point during the night. Technically, it’s the intersection of P and Columbia NW, but 9th is the closest major cross street.

Hit was hard enough to completely small the left rear quarter-panel and straw glass down P st. I would imagine the car is inoperable in this state due to the damage on the left rear. Hit was also hard enough to push the vehicle into the Jeep parked in front of it.”
