Update from MPD:

“This morning, shortly after 9am, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) responded to reports of a stabbing in the 3900 block of Chesapeake Street, Northwest near Wilson High School.

A Wilson High School student was approached by a suspect who demanded the victim’s property as he exited his vehicle. After a brief verbal exchange, there was a struggle that ensued, and the juvenile male suffered a stab wound to his leg. The suspect fled to the adjacent neighborhood and remains at large. The student walked across the street to the school where he reported the incident. The victim has been transported to an area hospital and suffers non-life threatening injuries.

MPD arrived on-scene and canvassed the neighborhood and crime scene area. At this time, the investigation is ongoing.

The suspect is described to be an Asian or Hispanic male, in his 30’s, approximately 5’7” tall, 150 pounds, and wearing all dark clothing.

“A tow truck driver was shot in the cab of his work vehicle” near Dew Drop Inn Sunday Afternoon

“Another daytime shooting about two blocks from metro and Monroe st market. And steps from dew drop inn.”

From MPD (just after 4pm on Sunday):

“On 4-24-2016 an Assault with the Intent to Kill occurred in the 3000 Block of 8th Street NE. A tow truck driver was shot in the cab of his work vehicle.

There are no usable look outs at this time. Nothing further to provide to the public.

The case is being investigated by the Fifth District Detectives.

Homicide in Glover Park this morning “appears to be domestic”

“Homicide investigation continues in 4000 b/o Tunlaw Rd. Appears to be domestic in nature and POI has been detained”

Update from MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred in the 4000 block of Tunlaw Road, Northwest on Friday, April 22, 2016.

At approximately 6:09 am, members of the Second District responded to calls for a suspicious package. While on the scene, members responded to the reporting person’s apartment where they located an adult female, unconscious and suffering from apparent stab wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital where all lifesaving efforts failed and was pronounced.

The decedent has not been identified at this time as it is still pending notification of next-of-kin.

On Friday, April 22, 2016, members of the Homicide Branch arrested 59-year-old Charles Elvis Sykes of Northwest, DC. He is being charged with Second Degree Murder while Armed.”

Armed Carjacking at 18th and Independence Ave, SE

Another armed carjacking in Hill East. From MPD:

“At approximately 1:10 AM, there was an armed carjacking at 18th Street and Independence Avenue SE. Two victims were inside of an automobile when they were approached by two suspects on foot. One suspect produced a handgun and ordered the victims out of the car. The suspects then fled with the victim’s car Eastbound on Independence Avenue. The First District Detectives office is investigating this case. Anyone with information is asked to call 202-727-9099.”

“Earlier today there were multiple shots fired in the 4400 block of Georgia Avenue NW. MPD units responded to the scene and located shell casings. At this time we have no report of injuries or property damage as a result of the gunfire. This case is still under investigation.”

Shooting in the 400 block of Hamilton Street, NW just before 9pm

“On April 18, 2016, at approximately 8:50 P.M., Fourth District officers received a call for the sound of gunshots in the 400 block of Hamilton Street, NW. Upon arriving on the scene, an adult male victim was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the body in the 400 block of Hamilton Street, NW.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting occurred in the south alley of the 400 block of Hamilton Street, NW. The victim was transported to a local area hospital, where he is in critical condition.

The Metropolitan Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding this crime to contact the MPD Command Information Center at 202-727-9099.”
