“The Metropolitan Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit seeks the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect in connection with a kidnapping and a sexual assault that occurred in the 1600 block of Holbrook Street, Northeast.

On Saturday, August 27, 2016, at approximately 3:00 am, a suspect forced the victim into her own vehicle with an unknown weapon and ordered the victim to drive. The suspect sexually assaulted the victim as she drove him around. When the vehicle came to a stop, the victim was able to flee and get away.

The suspect is described as a black male, dark complexion, 20-40 years of age, with shoulder-length dread locks. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans.

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the 1000 block of Rhode Island Avenue, Northeast on Monday, August 29, 2016.

At approximately 11:46 pm, members of the Fifth District responded to the listed location and located an adult male, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire & EMS personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital. Once admitted to the hospital, all lifesaving efforts failed, and the victim was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 24-year-old Tony Jermaine Gates, of Southeast, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.”

“On Friday, August 26, 2016, at 2:30 p.m., the Third District Crime Suppression Team responded to 14th and Girard Street, NW (Inside the park), in response to numerous drug complaints by concerned citizens. After a brief investigation four adult males were arrested for misdemeanor drug charges. One of the adults males was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm. This adult male was additionally charged with Carrying a Pistol without a License.”

“The Metropolitan Police Department Sexual Assault Unit seeks the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect in connection with a Burglary One and First Degree Sexual Abuse while Armed (Gun) offense that occurred in the 1200 block of Massachusetts Avenue Southeast, on Sunday, August 28, 2016.

At approximately 6:00 am, an adult male awoke to an unknown suspect in his home. The suspect sexually assaulted the victim at gunpoint and then fled the location with some of the victim’s property. There were no signs of forced entry into the residence.

The suspect is described as a Black male, 5’8” in height, stocky build, approximately 200 lbs., medium to dark complexion, and last seen wearing a black baseball cap, black T-shirt and black shorts. After a preliminary investigation, it is believed that the victim was intentionally targeted by the suspect.

“Shots were fired in apartment complex parking lot or Porter Street NW (behind the Quebec house apartments, in the rear parking lot, 2521ish Porter St, NW), then I saw the car hit another car and speed off eventually. Shots were fired on the crosswalk and two cars were in the parking lot. They think the driver was shot in one car that pulled in. When they tried to pull out they hit this car.”

MPD will be releasing more info later but can confirm “Arrests were made and guns recovered”.

Update from MPD:

“The Metropolitan Police Department’s First District announced that multiple suspects have been arrested following shots fired in the 2700 block of Porter Street, Northwest.

On Monday, August 29, 2016, at approximately 2:47 am, Second District officers responded to the 2700 block of Porter Street Northwest for the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers located several casings at the scene and obtained information regarding a vehicle that was observed fleeing the area. A short time later, an MPD unit from the First District observed a vehicle matching the lookout description traveling northbound in the 3rd Street Tunnel. A brief pursuit followed and when the vehicle stopped, three suspects exited and fled on foot. The suspects were quickly apprehended in the area of the 900 block of New York Avenue, Northwest.

One semi-automatic rifle and two semi-automatic pistols were recovered from the vehicle. Further investigation revealed the vehicle had stolen tags and an altered VIN number.

On Monday, August 29, 2016, First District officers arrested 26-year-old Calvin Donnell Alston of Bowie, MD, 21-year-old Deshawn Williams of Southeast, DC, and 24-year-old Brandon Rose, of Southeast, DC for several offenses including Possession of Unregistered Firearm and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle.

During the shooting, a vehicle was struck by gunfire. No injuries were reported. The incident remains under investigation.”

“The Metropolitan Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division Sexual Assault Unit announced an arrest in the First Degree Burglary, First Degree Sexual Abuse, Aggravated Assault, and Kidnapping offenses that occurred in the 300 block of Channing Street, Northeast, on Wednesday, August 24, 2016.

At approximately 1:30 am, an unknown suspect entered a residence, and then physically and sexually assaulted a resident. Neighbors heard the resident in distress and called 911. Members of MPD arrived on the scene and the suspect refused to let the resident leave and held her against her will. Responding officers were able to gain entry and rescue the resident and place the suspect under arrest.

On Wednesday, August 24, 2016, 29-year-old Iray Dejaun Turner, of Washington, DC was arrested for First Degree Burglary, First Degree Sexual Abuse, Aggravated Assault, and Kidnapping charges.”

Robbery (Gun): 4000 block of 13th Street, Northwest, on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at approximately 2:21 am. CCN: 16-139-618.
Robbery (Gun): 12th and Douglas Streets, Northeast, on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at approximately 12:54 pm. CCN: 16-141-632.
Assault with Intent to Rob (Gun): 1400 block of Ogden Street, Northwest, on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at approximately 2:00 pm. CCN: 16-141-676.
Robbery (Gun): 1200 block of Delafield Place, Northwest, on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at approximately 2:20 pm. CCN: 16-141-683.
Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun): 16th and Irving Streets, Northeast, on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at approximately 3:00 pm. CCN: 16-141-730.

During these offenses, the suspect(s) were occupying a stolen gray 2003 Toyota Camry bearing a DC tag of EZ2397. In each instance one to three black male suspects approached the victim on a public street and robbed or attempted to rob the victim at gunpoint. All of the victims are Latino individuals.

Update from MPD:

“Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District have announced an arrest in connection with several Defacing Public or Private Property offenses that occurred in the Chinatown area of 7th and H Streets, Northwest.

Members of the First District responded to three separate incidents in the Chinatown area of anti-Semitic graffiti written on Chinese zodiac rat murals. The dates of the reported offenses are as follows:

* Monday, August 1, 2016
* Monday, August 8, 2016
* Tuesday, August 9, 2016

Additionally, on Sunday, August 21, 2016, swastikas were drawn on the windows and tables of a coffee shop in the area. On August 22, 2016, the suspect went to a different coffee shop, and again drew swastikas on the business’ window.

On Monday, August 22, 2016, First District Patrol Officers arrested 60 year-old Generoso Anthony Capodilupo of no fixed address, and charged him with multiple counts of Defacing Public or Private Property.”
