Arrest Made: “While attempting to intervene in a verbal dispute, the victim was shot by an unknown suspect.”

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Second District have announced an arrest in an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) offense that occurred in the 1500 block of 22nd Street, Northwest on Saturday, October 15, 2016, at approximately 3:00 am.

While attempting to intervene in a verbal dispute, the victim was shot by an unknown suspect. The suspect fled in an unknown direction. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

On Monday, November 7, 2016, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 24-year-old Anthony Willie Robinson, of Northwest, DC, was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun). CCN: 16-175-185”

Shooting at Sherman and Lamont St, NW 10:45pm Saturday

“Metropolitan Police Department responded to the 3300 block of Sherman Ave NW for a shooting at approximately 1045 this evening. Once at the location police found a male suffering from a gunshot wound, the male was treated and transported by the fire department. The victim of the shooting is currently recovering at an area hospital.

Please contact the Metropolitan Police at 202-727-9099 if you have any information in regards to this event.”

“At 1010 pm tonight, Third District members received a call for sounds of gunshots in the area of 2203 15th Street , NW. While we are out there investigating, we are asking anyone with information relating to this to call (202) 727-9099 or email me directly at [email protected].”

Just after 10pm a reader wrote:

“I think I just heard 6 gunshots around the 16th and U street block – any confirmation from other readers?”

Another replied:

“Happened on Johnson Ave between R & S. Police here now looking for casings. No ambulance, so that’s good”

then:

“and now just a whole bunch more?”

and

“I also just heard a lot more about 10 minutes ago. I’m at 17th and T – sounded like a few blocks north of here”

“Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District Detectives Unit have announced an arrest has been made after a pre-school aged child carried a loaded pistol into an elementary school in the 1500 block of Morris Road, Southeast.

On Tuesday, November 1, 2016, around 9:30 am, a school security guard was checking the pre-school aged child’s backpack and found a loaded, semi-automatic pistol.

On Tuesday, November 1, 2016, the child’s father, 31 year-old Anthony Earl Chiles, of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Carrying a Pistol Without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Recklessly Endangering a Child’s Physical, Mental or Emotional Health.”

In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Criminal Interdiction Unit (CIU), and Crime Suppression Teams—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From the evening of October 28, 2016, through the morning of October 31, 2016, MPD detectives and officers recovered 24 illegal firearms.

Among the firearms recovered this weekend were:
