“Dear PoPville,
Last week, my family endured a terrifying incident in Petworth that I wanted to share. Early Wednesday, August 8, there were gun shots in the immediate vicinity of our house, which while less common than it used to be, is sadly not that unusual. Moments later, a man ran into our backyard from the alley and promptly kicked down our back lower basement door. I was able to get in between him and our main stairs on our ground floor and tackled him to prevent him from getting upstairs where my children and wife were hiding. The man was shot twice in the abdomen (I think) and stopped trying to get upstairs. The police were there within minutes and took the man away on a stretcher.
I can’t prove it, but I am nearly certain that this man, who I don’t know and had never seen before, is associated with a house a block away that has long been connected with the drug trade. (more…)

“On 8/11/18 at approximately 2310 hours, First District officers were flagged down in the 300 block of 13th St NE for a robbery just occurred. An adult female victim was walking southbound on 13th St NE when she crossed paths with an adult male suspect. The suspect grabbed the victim’s purse, trying to snatch it. The purse was strapped around her body and she tried to pull away. However, when the victim realized that the suspect was armed with a knife, she surrendered her property. “Dear PoPville,
Yesterday morning I was assaulted by another woman while I running (9:20am) at the corner of 8 and Q St, NW. The woman was in front of me, and as I went to pass her on the left, she stuck out her foot and tripped me,
Then pushing me into the short metal fence. She also proceeded to yell at me and insult me for basically just running. (more…)

“According to charging documents filed in D.C. Superior Court, Smith was riding his bike westbound in the center lane in the 3100 block of M Street.
The driver was in his car behind Smith and became angry that Smith was riding slowly, according to police. As the driver went past Smith, police said, Smith reached out and hit his car trunk with an object.
The driver then stopped his car and threatened to call police to report the damage. As Smith tried to pedal away, the driver grabbed Smith’s bike, police said. Smith then repeatedly called the driver the racial slur, police said, and struck him in the head with the bicycle U-lock.”

“On Wednesday, August 8, 2018, MPD units responded to a call for shooting victim in the 800 block of Decatur St NW [“Shooting at 0136 hrs in the 800 block of Decatur Street, NW. No Lookout.”] The victim was located in the block, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Just prior to locating the victim, units responded for the sound gunshots in the 900 block of Crittenden Street, NW. It is believed that these 2 calls for service are related. There were no other injuries reported or any property damage.
The Metropolitan Police Department is actively investigating this incident. Anyone with information is requested to call on (202)727-9099.”

My motorcycle was stolen yesterday morning around Bloomingdale on the corner of 2nd and Florida Ave NW. I’m desperately trying to find it. It’s a maroon 1985 Honda Nighthawk 450. One identifying feature is the left pipe is matte while the other is shiny. If spotted please call police referencing report #18129545 and alert Officer Quenterra Carey, badge #2869. The license plate number (if it’s still on there) is MR9659. You can also email sightings to [email protected]”

“Woke up to gun shots at 3:15 am. They had the whole 900 block of T St NW and intersection closed off.”

“Multiple gunshots ( felt like 5+to me by the time I woke up l) at 3-00 -3:30 ish this morning at 9th and T Nw. The intersection was blocked off with crime tape and lots of police resources deployed. Really curious what happened…in the past two months It feels like we’ve seen so much activity in this area.”
