About All Those ATVs and Dirtbikes on Sunday – MPD Trying to Identify 21 riders offering “a reward of $250 for your information”

“On August 19, 2018, the Metropolitan Police Department captured video footage of 21 individuals who were driving illegal minibikes, dirt bikes and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) in the 2500 block of Virginia Avenue, NW. Earlier this month, the MPD obtained video footage identifying 11 individuals doing the same thing in the 2300 block of 14th Street, NW; 1300 block of Connecticut Avenue, NW; 1600 block of Maryland Avenue, NE. The MPD is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying these persons of interest.

Shooting Homicide in Edgewood around Midnight

“At approximately 12:02 AM, members of the Fifth District responded for a shooting that occurred in the 600 block of Evarts Street, NE. Responding units located the adult victim, a few blocks away, suffering from gunshot wounds to the body. The victim was transported to an area hospital and was subsequently pronounced deceased. There is no suspect look-out available at this time. Members of the Homicide Branch are leading this investigation.

Woman Assaulted and Robbed around 10pm in Bloomingdale Last Night

“Fifth District detectives are investigating a robbery that occurred in the Unit Block of Adams Street, NW at approximately 10pm on the night of August 21st. The victim in this case was walking home when approached by a single black male who assaulted her and stole her purse. Anyone with information related to this crime is encouraged to call MPD at either 202-727-9099, or text information to 50411.”

8:20pm Shooting in Brookland near Turkey Thicket

A reader reported hearing about 8 shots fired.

“The Fifth District is working a shooting in the 1100 block of Michigan Ave NE that occurred on August 20, 2018 at approximately 8:20PM. The victim was shot once in the leg. The victim is being treated at a local hospital. At this time there is no definite lookout for any suspects. Any information please contact 2027279099″

Ed. Note: Unconfirmed as of this morning but on the Brookland listserv there was also a report of a “shoot out” at Dwight Mosley Park at 1800 Perry St, NE. Updates when/if more info becomes available on that.

One resident responds on the listserv: “Legitimately 25,30 rounds of gunshots from Taft playground last night. Some seemed simultaneous so assume multiple shooters.”

Shooting in Logan Circle around 11:30pm Saturday

“Shooting at 2335 hrs in the 1400 block of R Street, NW. Lookout for a B/M, 5’10, heavyset, wearing a black shirt.

The Third District is currently investigating a shooting in the 1400 block of R Street NW. An adult female has been transported to an area hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Motorists and pedestrians can expect road closures in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call 202-727-9099.”

A reader reports:

“There was a block party that went on all day on R St. The street had been closed to allow for this.

Around 11:50 PM, we hear approx 10 rounds of gun shots fired. It was very loud. We looked over the balcony of our roof top and saw the Red Light Bar immediately clear out (corner of 14th and R St). There must have been 40 people on their outside patio — it was packed as it was a nice night. Everyone went running for cover.

Within 1 minute, another round of gun shots went off — even before I could call 911. This time with approx 6 shots being fired. (more…)

“Stabbing in the 1400 Block of Rhode Island Avenue, NW. Lookout for Suspect’s is a group of B/M’s, 5’5- to 5’8 in height, facial hair, blue jeans, gucci hat and last seen W/B of 1400 Rhode Island Avenue, NW.”
