“On 8-4-18 at approximately 12:50 am, MPD units received a call for the sounds of gunshots in the 5100 block of 8th Street, N.W. A canvass of the area revealed three shell casings at the intersection of Gallatin and 8th ST NW. There was no evidence of property damage or any injuries reported.

The Department is requesting that anyone with information related to this event call 202 727-9099.”

“The Third District is currently investigating a shooting in the 2100 block of 4th Street NW. An adult male has been transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Anyone with information is asked to call 202-727-9099 or text to 50411.”

“On July 31, 2018, at approximately 9:30 pm., patrol units heard several gunshots in the 3700 block of 10th St. N.W. Investigating officers located and recovered several casings.

From MPD Saturday:

“Earlier today members of the Fifth District CST unit executed a search warrant on a suspected marijuana pop up event located in the 600 Block of Rhode Island Ave NE. During the search, officers seized large quantities of edible marijuana products, marijuana, and US currency. Additionally a Glock 22 .40 Caliber handgun and a SCCY CPX-1 9 mm handgun were seized. A total of seven arrests were made. Job well done.”


From the Mayor’s Office:

“Mayor Muriel Bowser today announced the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) and FBI Washington Field Office are offering a joint reward of up to $45,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and prosecution of four suspects responsible for the murder of 10 year-old Makiyah Wilson. This is a $20,000 increase to the existing $25,000 award which was previously announced.

On Monday, July 16, 2018, at approximately 8:00 p.m., members of the MPD’s Sixth District responded to the 300 block of 53rd Street, Northeast, Washington, DC for the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers located Wilson, an adult female, and an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victims to area hospitals. After all life-saving efforts failed, Wilson was pronounced dead. Two other adult male victims sought treatment at an area hospital for gunshot wounds. (more…)


“Dear PoPville,

My out of town guest was on the metro going from Gallery Place to Columbia Heights Thursday night around 10pm. She was standing by the doors with head phones on and she said a young-ish man across from her also had in head phones and took them out for a second to say something to 2 high school aged men standing near him, which turned out to be “Can I help you?” I guess they had been staring him down. The 2 young men proceeded to beat the crap out of him until people on the train started screaming stop and a very big man got up and approached them. (more…)

Update from MPD:

“On July 27, 2018 at approximately 12:55 PM, the victim along with a friend were in front of 3910 8th Street, Northwest. The suspect approached and words were exchanged with the victim and his friend. The suspect then shot the victim with a handgun, striking him on his ankle. The suspect’s injuries are not life threatening.

The shooter ran from the scene. He is described as a Hispanic male, wearing a black T shirt and blue jeans.

The shooter arrived at the scene in in a white 2-door white sedan driven by an unidentified Hispanic male. The car is described as having a flame or lightning bolts design in yellow and black on each door.”

“Metro Transit Police officers on routine patrol at Gallery Place Station this morning spotted a suspect in a Northwest DC shooting that occurred yesterday evening. The suspect was taken into custody after jumping onto the Green/Yellow line tracks, causing rush-hour delays for hundreds of riders. A semiautomatic handgun was recovered at the scene.

The suspect was sought in connection with a shooting, investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department, that occurred in the 200 block of D Street NW (MPD Event # I20180425414). MPD described the shooter as a “black male, bushy top, grey t-shirt, armed with a gun.” Within minutes of the shooting, using the lookout from MPD, digital video technicians at the Metro Transit Police Security Operations Control Center discovered that an individual matching the suspect description had entered the nearby Judiciary Square Metro Station shortly after the shooting.
