Thanks to Diego for passing on from Maddy’s Taproom:

“Dear Friends-

This hurts…our hearts are broken. Unfortunately, after 9 years of fun and friendships, Maddy’s will be closing it’s doors for good on Saturday July 25th. We tried, but the economic impact was just too much. Please come by and say farewell and help us to deplete some inventory and pay some staff(today through Saturday 12-9pm). (more…)

From Ivy and Coney:

“Ivy and Coney, DC’s home for tube meat sandwiches and baseball, is excited to announce that we’re reopening the roof deck for in-house dining and imbibing on Thursday, July 23. After making some facility upgrades and implementing coronavirus safety procedures in order to account for a new style of service, we’re ready to open up Thursdays through Sundays (to start). We’re also excited to announce our newest feature, just in the nick of time for baseball: The Ivy Club.

Do you miss going to baseball games? We sure do. And since none of us will be entering the Friendly Confines or Nats’ Park any time soon, we’ve created the next best thing. Fans (of baseball or the bar) will be able to reserve games, enjoy all-you-can-eat-and-drink specials, while watching their hometown favorite on our big screen in authentic baseball stadium seating. Expect renditions of the 7th inning stretch in the voice of Harry Caray, t-shirt tosses and bellies full of regional food favorites (see below). Reservations for The Ivy Club can be made online here, at least 24 hours in advance. We’ll even open up the bar early for you and your friends to watch day games, whether we’re planning to open that day or not. (more…)

Vermont and U Street, NW

Ah cool! Their Facebook page had an announcement for an event July 7:

“Itching for an excuse to drink outside? #DC, you’re in luck!

We’re teaming up with #60studios for a Patio Powerhour Party, where you can vibe out to an hour-long visual powerhour of 60 music video clips, played at a quick pace & projected on the brick wall, in our beautiful cocktail garden. (more…)

2007 14th Street, NW

Marvin opened up back in 2007 and has been one of 14th/U Street’s top destinations ever since. I’ve been hearing tons of rumors about Marvin not reopening (the plywood doesn’t help.) But I’m happy to say that I hear these are false reports. I hear that there is likely to be a renovation and they should reopen when that’s completed or sometime when we get to phase three. Whew and stay tuned.

“Dear PoPville,

Across the Pond is reopening this Tuesday. They revamped their menu, have a new, cheaper happy hour from 3PM to 8PM and will be taking reservations. If anyone wants a spot to watch afternoon EPL matches that follows all of the DC phase 2 guidelines, this is a great place to go! The service is always great too.

Food menu here and drinks menu here.

Reopening on July 14! (more…)

From a press release:

“Hook Hall’s 7,000 square-foot backyard has been seasonally transformed into The Oasis, a tropical paradise respite in the middle of the city. Bright yellow tables, appropriately social distanced, are set on the Astro-turfed lawn with seven cabanas flanking the yard. (more…)
