Thanks to Mike (and David) for sending news about the fire on U street upstairs at Lounge of Three. DC Fire and EMS reported: “Update Working Fire 1000 block U St NW. All fire has now been extinguished. No extension to the adjacent building. Initial attack units being relieved. Injured firefighter has been transported to hospital.” (more…)

Everybody knows Santa, who rewards good little children with presents, but have you heard of Santa’s counterpart, Krampus, who punishes the naughty kids? In a cellar speakeasy after dark, it’s fun to be a little naughty, so we thought we’d give Krampus his due and design our holiday pop-up around him for a change! Ivy and Coney, the Today Show’s favorite dive bar (see reference), is proud to celebrate Hanukkah with all of you again! Beginning Monday, December 5th through the end of the month, the Manischewitz shall flow, the dreidels shall spin, and fun will be had by most. Mercifully, Hanukkah gets going on a reasonable date this year (12/18), so we’ll be able to pregame well into the month. The year 5782 was another whopper, so let’s all toast 5783 not being another dumpster fire!
