“Krampus Holiday Pop-Up in The Pub and the People’s Cellar Speakeasy, and More!”

courtesy The Pub and the People (1648 North Capitol Street, NW)

From an email:

“First, TONIGHT we are debuting our first ever Krampus Pop-Up in our cellar speakeasy, The Side Door. It’s a fun spin on the well-worn holiday pop-up. Everybody knows Santa, who rewards good little children with presents, but have you heard of Santa’s counterpart, Krampus, who punishes the naughty kids? In a cellar speakeasy after dark, it’s fun to be a little naughty, so we thought we’d give Krampus his due and design our holiday pop-up around him for a change! (It’s still visually a holiday theme, of course.) Here’s a sample of the holiday cocktail menu (which in total is 18 cocktails):

Elf Around and Find Out
Blend of Dark Rums, Spiced Raspberry, Absinthe

Gingerbread Old Fashioned
Michter’s Rye, Junipero Gin, Ginger, Allspice, Buckspice Ginger Bitters

Flipping Biscottis
Grappa, Biscotti Liquor, Creme de Cacao, Cold Brew Coffee Liquor, Whole Egg

Krampus on Campus
(Swedish Mulled Wine – served hot)
Bordeaux Red Blend, Aquavit, Rainwater Madeira, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Cloves, Orange, Vanilla, Raisins, Almonds

Tea & Krampus (served hot)
Hennessy VS Cognac, Rooisbos Tea, Honey, Cloves, Schisandra

Krampus Baby
(Oaxacan Hot Chocolate – served hot)
Mezcal Banhez, Amaro Nonino, Coconut Milk Beverage, Dark Chocolate, Cacao

The space will be open Thursdays 7-11pm, Fridays and Saturdays 7pm-1am. Reservations can be made on Resy.com, and the space is also available for private events (inquiries can be made via The Pub and the People’s website).

Second, we are bringing back our fire pits on the patio, for those who love the smell and crackle of a campfire without the need to leave the City. Turns out, a lot of DC folks aren’t scared of winter weather! If the fire isn’t warm enough, there are always Hot Toddys and our world-famous Hot Bourbon Cider, made with cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and allspice.”

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
