Oh no – District Made Spirits (originally One Eight Distilling) is for sale (will stay open for retail & distribution for now) and has closed their tasting room in Ivy City

1135 Okie Street, NE opened here back in January 2015 originally One Eight Distilling before changing brand to District Made Spirits

As a big gin drinker and a big fan – this is a huge bummer. District Made‘s Co-Founder and CEO, Alex Laufer, tells me that they are looking to sell the distillery and have closed their beautiful tasting room in Ivy City. They will continue to distribute and stay open for retail until the holidays and are hoping to open the tasting room for one last bash.

Not since Marvin closed has there been a more painful closure coming to U Street (adjacent.)

“After 15 years of serving up unforgettable drinks and unforgettable moments, the Gibson will be closing its doors on 14th Street on January 1st, 2024

After opening in November of 2008, the Gibson quickly became a pioneer in D.C.’s cocktail scene. Hidden behind a signless door, the bar offered classic drinks in a discreet and sophisticated setting. Its second-floor bar and lounge became the “it-spot” for private events and cocktail classes. It has stayed true to its roots throughout the last decade, rebounding back after a brief hiatus during the pandemic. (more…)
