“The Dead Rabbit Embarks on Further U.S. Expansion with a Washington D.C. Opening Slated for 2024”

Ed. Note: The PR firm would not confirm to the exact location but the Washington Business Journal reported that they’ll be coming to the former Pi Pizzeria space which abruptly closed last month.

“Managing Partner Jack McGarry and The Dead Rabbit team announce 2024 plans for the third location of the world’s most awarded pub in Washington D.C. Situated in Penn Quarter–within blocks of the National Portrait Gallery and Capital One Sports Arena–the 6,200 square-foot two-level space will feature the exceptional Irish beverage, food, and entertainment programming for which The Dead Rabbit is known. McGarry has tapped Crown Creative, the pub’s Belfast-based creative partner, to bring the vision of tradition meets tomorrow to life in the historic D.C. building in the center of the entertainment district. Oh no – District Made Spirits (originally One Eight Distilling) is for sale (will stay open for retail & distribution for now) and has closed their tasting room in Ivy City

1135 Okie Street, NE opened here back in January 2015 originally One Eight Distilling before changing brand to District Made Spirits

As a big gin drinker and a big fan – this is a huge bummer. District Made‘s Co-Founder and CEO, Alex Laufer, tells me that they are looking to sell the distillery and have closed their beautiful tasting room in Ivy City. They will continue to distribute and stay open for retail until the holidays and are hoping to open the tasting room for one last bash.

After opening in November of 2008, the Gibson quickly became a pioneer in D.C.’s cocktail scene. Hidden behind a signless door, the bar offered classic drinks in a discreet and sophisticated setting. Its second-floor bar and lounge became the “it-spot” for private events and cocktail classes.
