Pluma is looking great:

“Seasonality via local produce will play a part in the menu, says Arango, but they will also stay true to their brand and carry all their well-known favorites such as kouign-amann, a French cake. As for the name, Pluma means feathers in Spanish and is an expansion on the owners’ Bluebird Bakery brand, a wholesale distributor of baked goods and coffee to 13 coffee shops in the DC region, including the neighboring Union Market.”

Bluestone Lane Coffee Now Open in West End; Applying for a Liquor License

D.C.’s first Bluestone Lane coffee has opened.

“Our West End location is a full service, sit down café, serving all of your Bluestone Lane favorites. Join us for an enhanced dining experience and enjoy our premium coffee, wellness drinks, BL signature cold-pressed juices and organic teas. The food offering at this café includes delicious healthy dishes such as our famous #AvoSmash, signature Breakfast Bowl and Eggs Your Way, as well as a range of grab and go delights and Husk Bakeshop gluten-free pastries. We can’t wait to meet our new locals!”

The liquor license placard says:

“New Class “C” Restaurant, which consists of a full-service Australian-inspired coffee place that will be offering a seasonal menu featuring progressive café fare for all-day breakfast, lunch, and early evening appetizers. The restaurant will have 64 seats and a Total Occupancy Load of 74. Licensee is requesting a Sidewalk Café endorsement with 48 seats.”

After yesterday’s huge Union Station news about Blue Bottle Coffee (and others) coming, I received a number of emails asking about the status of Blue Bottle coming to Logan Circle:

“Dear PoPville,

you had mentioned in a post that the Blue Bottle Coffee in Logan was going in the old Lululemon store front in the Metropole building at 15/P NW. This has changed as Sweetgreen is moving there! They have the windows covered up and says that they are expanding into a bigger space. Maybe Blue Bottle is going where the old Sweetgreen is now?”

My sources deep in the trenches echo the theory above – Sweetgreen will be moving next door into the old Lululemon space while Blue Bottle will eventually come to the current Sweetgreen space. Anyone else hear that? STAY TUNED.

WOWZA! Blue Bottle Coffee, Chick Fil A, Warby Parker, Magnolia Bakery and More Coming to Union Station!!

Well, we don’t have Union Station to kick around anymore. UNIQLO was a harbinger indeed.

Holy smokes, thanks to Michael for sending:

“Was just checking out Union Station’s website randomly for store hours and saw a ton of pretty great things listed as “coming soon” including Blue Bottle, Chick-Fil-A, Magnolia, and Warby Parker.”

And don’t sleep on the sale at The Body Shop!!

Yesterday the X2 Bus tweeted:

“looks like nine west and art of shaving are closed at union station. probably 2,000 square feet of retail here.”

Presumably the Warby Parker will take much of that space. STAY TUNED.

Sweet Science Coffee Ending Stay at La Pop January 31st in Adams Morgan
