A woman with short hair was traveling on a bicycle southwest down Rhode Island (we had the light). A man on a bike riding north on 14th street cut across Rhode Island Ave despite the fact that he had a red light. That man cut both me and the short haired woman off while riding north. In NoMa, there’s a bike lane on M St. NE with dividers, which are constantly smashed and bent. I realized a few days ago that the culprit was the Harris Teeter truck, which runs over all the bike-lane dividers so that it can turn into the garage down the street. This practice is a total travesty, as it makes biking in the city more dangerous and intentionally damages public property.
Thought you might be interested in posting to encourage Harris Teeter to fix its practices.”

“This morning at 8:45 a man was exposing himself while standing in the middle of the trail, between NY Ave. & R St. NE. I saw something similar about a month ago, but it was not so obvious, so I didn’t report it. I called police this morning after I got to work. Please report to police if you see this behavior — if it is the same person he seems to be getting more bold.”

“Dear PoPville,
On July 4th approx 7:45pm I was involved in a hit and run accident at Grant Circle in Petworth. I was riding my bike in the bike lane at the circle however a green Jeep with DC plates sped up and cut me off and hit me with his right rear part of his car. I was thrown off my bike and I injured my hands and knees and my bike was severely damaged. The driver saw the accident and quickly drove away. I’m looking for any witness who would like to help and testify. The police arrived at the scene and recorded the case. Currently investigation is pending. Once on scene, the officers located an adult male who had sustained non life-threatening gunshot wounds to the lower extremities. The individual was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Had a very close call today almost being hit by a car. As you can see in the video, he drove around a person at a stop sign and almost hit me on my bike. My question is whether or not there is anyway for the police to ticket/charge him? I didn’t actually get hit, but from the video he was clearly driving recklessly. It’s only a matter of time before he kills someone driving like that. I have his license plate and high definition photos of his face. I called the police but they didn’t seem to care. Is it worth going to a station, or is it a lost cause?

This question has been bothering my husband and I for weeks. While I know many are not fans of the dockless bike systems (limebike, ofo, etc) we both were. We don’t have space to store bikes and we loved being able to pick them up anywhere around our house in Dupont and drop them anywhere. So now the question, where have they all gone? It feels as if they have all been replaced by scooters but we are not in the market to be “scootbros”. We just want to be able to grab bikes at random around the city again, it felt like such a tease. Do you by chance know what happened with them? Is it just me or are they all being replaced by scooters?

You are right!! I can’t find it, (can anyone? Textdoc?), I saw a tweet a while ago saying that since the number of bikes and scooters are limited during DDOT’s Dockless Bikeshare Demonstration Period, that Lime decided to add more scooters since they were so popular. Since they added more scooters they had to reduce the number of bikes. Have others noticed a scarcity of the dockless bikes? What about the other companies?
