Mark Sussman writes last night: “Hey #bikeDC Dzhoy Zuckerman was shot and killed last night [Saturday, see police report below] while being robbed at gunpoint. There is a memorial ride for him tomorrow [Sunday] 5pm at Conte’s Navy Yard”

Ed. Note: “Dzhoy Zuckermans pronouns are they/them.”

“Dear PoPville,

I was biking north on 11th NW around 6pm today (Wednesday) somewhere north of Florida, when what appeared to be a dad with a toddler on a cargo bike passed me, and right after doing so dropped some house+bike+car keys. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I was driving north on 16th Street and witnessed what I can only describe as tremendously stupid. In rush hour no less.”

Is 16th Street a shared lane for bikes and cars?

“Dear PoPville,

Any updates on when (if?) the long-awaited Hains Point bike lanes will actually be put in? Back in November the word was they’d be installed in one week in early December. But here we are in June, and as of last weekend when I was there biking … nothing.  Has anyone seen an updated timeline?”

Update from NPS (July 6):

“We’re working with @DDOTDC to restripe Ohio Drive around Hains Point, creating a safer pathway for bikers & pedestrians. The road will remain open during the 6 week project, but some parking areas will be closed”

If this is you, please email me at [email protected] and I’ll connect you with OP.

Thanks to Paul for sending: “Came across this guy and his pet cockatoo while biking on Beach Drive in Rock Creek Park yesterday. Didn’t catch either of their names, but the guy says he bikes regularly with the bird, up to 20 miles at a time, and she just likes hanging out there enjoying the rush.”
