“Understandable but unfortunate. It was DC CAN that informed me of my April 2022 exposure, and it’s instruction to rapid test resulted in my positive diagnosis a good 36 hours before I developed symptoms, allowing me to protect others in the interlude.”

“DC Health would like to thank residents for using the DC COVID Alert Notice (DC CAN) COVID-19 exposure notification system to help protect yourself and our community. Exposure notifications helped to prevent thousands of cases of COVID-19 during the pandemic and allowed people to take action to prevent its spread. In DC alone, over 37,000 people used DC CAN to anonymously alert others of possible exposure to COVID-19, generating more than a million exposure notifications.
The nationwide program that supports the DC CAN exposure notification system will discontinue operations on May 11, 2023. As a result, (more…)

Sergei reports around 7:30pm: “Major police presence at 14 and S within a minute of me honestly thinking i heard fire crackers”
Readers report: “Shooting right outside DoiMoi. Someone seems to have been hit.”
“About the shooting just now, we were there. A man was shot, the first police car arrived within 2 minutes and the ambulance came within 10 minutes southbound. 3 shots, we got down behind cars. Man who was hit had a motorcycle and shooter was on a motorcycle too.”
“We are inside the restaurant right now. Someone heard shooting, ran to the other side of the restaurant, and yelled to GET DOWN. We all did, staff, guests, etc… Lot of confusion and asking what happened.”
From MPD: “Shooting Investigation in the1400 Block of S Street, NW. Lookout is for a B/M wearing a black hooded sweater, dark pants, short dreads and armed with a handgun last seen eastbound of the location.”
“The Third District is working a shooting that took place in front of 1401 S St, NW at approximately 7:20pm involving 3 suspects. If anyone has any information related to this event please call 202-727-9099 or text to 50411.”
