“Workers were installing new signage today for Mikey & Mel’s at 19th and L NW (the former Corner Bakery space).

FWIW, I asked one of the workers when they expected to open and he simply said “soon”.” (more…)

Sharing my voting information situation. DCBOE is currently behind—taking about a month to process voter registration information, meaning that even if you submitted an application prior to their deadline, you may not be actively registered by Election Day. They told me to bring my ID and proof of address to vote on Election Day or visit their office prior to Election Day on 1015 Half Street SE. However, a lot of people will not receive ballots to drop off.

3000 Georgia Ave, NW between Irving and Columbia Road, NW

“Dear PoPville,

Over the last couple of years Bruce Monroe park has become a pole of attraction for drugs and crime. Last year, the play area was vandalized. This year, the fence has been taken down already twice, presumably to obtain access after hours (see picture above). There is always a lot of trash scattered on the ground. It is not unusual to see people using drugs, and a few months ago someone died of overdose.
