From MPD:

On Wednesday PSA 108 Officers arrested an adult male for the theft of packages from a home in PSA 108. After being alerted by a watchful neighbor the Officers located and arrested the individual. They also learned that the suspect was assisted by a second individual in a vehicle; however, attempts to locate the second suspect and vehicle were unsuccessful.

On Saturday First District Vice Officers arrested the same suspect from Wednesday, along with a second person, for the theft of packages in the area of 16th & D Streets SE. PSA Officers who were involved in the Wednesday arrest were able to locate both the vehicle and second suspect from Wednesday’s theft a short distance away. That individual was also arrested on a parole violation warrant and the vehicle was seized so detectives can obtain a search warrant.

These four arrests serve as an outstanding example of community cooperation and excellent police work. The events were initiated on Wednesday with a call of suspicious activity by a watchful neighbor and then a thorough investigation and follow-up by patrol and plainclothes officers working together.

Please remain vigilant and notify MPD whenever you observe suspicious activity or persons by call 911 immediately.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
