I see lots of wine, but what kinds of beers have they added?

    • mtp

They added a pretty decent selection of craft beers and local stuff (DC Brau, 3 Stars, etc).

  • CHGal

It’s odd that they added all those self checkout lanes, then significantly increased the quantity they sell of the only thing you can’t bring through the self-checkout.

    • FridayGirl

Haha, I had this same thought last weekend! I ended up waiting forever in line for a bottle of champagne and some plastic cups (2 things!) because I couldn’t go through the self-checkout and they didn’t have any of the leftover “express” lanes open. Womp womp.

      • bll

so unlike safeway or harris teeter, there’s absolutely no attendant nearby to help you if you have an issue or if you’re buying alcohol? definitely frustrating.

        • CHGal

No. There are signs saying you can’t check out alcohol in self checkout.

  • lemeow

Nice. Saw this a few nights ago.

Now if only they would up their grocery section game.

  • mtp

They were smart – they expanded the existing cold refrigerated section. Last week when I was there it still smelled like new construction.

    &Pizza wants their swag back…..

  • MtP

I went in there for the first time in a while last week and was plesantly surprised by the overall quality of the store. Seems like the sort of upped their game in general recently.

    • DF

Yes but so many things are in a new place (esp upstairs). Frustrating to this frequent Target shopper!

  • mdtodc

I hate bashing a store in its entirely because there are of course some great people who work there but overall, this Target is the WORST target I have ever been to. Ive been a die hard target fan all my life (credit card and all) but I seriously avoid shopping there. I have very specific examples to back this up, but am aware that most people don’t care to read about them.
The new layout does look great, but please tell me I am not the only who doesn’t really like this particular store?

    • textdoc

I don’t like it either and am also a longtime Target fan.

    • ZetteZelle

I’ve had some specific complaints about this store in the past, but I do think it’s 1. significantly better now than it was when it first opened and 2. still better than the PG Plaza Target. Damning with faint praise, I know…

      • textdoc

Hahaha on point 2. I usually avoid that one because the parking lot is always so crowded.
Have you ever been to the Greenbelt Target? I haven’t been there recently, but I remember that in its first year or so of operation, it had signs posted in the dressing rooms saying “This is not a bathroom or a diaper-changing area.” Eeeewww.

Go to the Target off Route 50 in Seven Corners. You’ll thank me later.

      • Anonymous

I think it’s highly unlikely that anyone would thank you for sending them to Seven Corners.

  • Amazon

Amazon Pantry has free shipping this month. No reason to go to target, except for beer and wine.

    • textdoc

Sure, no reason… if you live in an apartment/condo building with a doorman who can sign for packages and hold them securely.

    • FridayGirl

No reason to go to target for beer and wine really, though, either. Unless you don’t mind waiting in line just as long as you would at Trader Joe’s.

    • mdtodc

Can you elaborate on this free shipping for Amazon Pantry? I haven’t see anything about it.

  • Kevin Lambert

They also started inflicting recorded pop music on their customers, of which I am no longer one, for that very reason. I used to make it a point to go there, simply because I wasn’t paying money to wallow in electric guitars and Britney Spears. Now I’ll take my business elsewhere, anywhere. I considered burning my discount card in front of the place, in the manner of Vietnam era draft cards, but it’s plastic. Anyway, fuck ’em…

  • Effie

I would rather have a Total Wine put into DC, not this.
