From a press release:

“St. Yves, a newly opened clubhouse, presents an intimate setting steeped in sophisticated glamour. Owned by David Chung and Ki Jun Sung—the team behind some of DC’s most defining nightlife venues of the last two decades including Capitale, Chinese Disco, Mason Inn, George, K Street Lounge, and Daedalus—St. Yves is an instant, Instagramable stunner.

The 150-seat, two-story, historical landmark located at the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and Jefferson Street, assumes a hybrid occupation of daytime corporate happy hours and special events with evenings and weekends taking on the energy of a late night hot spot. “We have learned so much about the nightlife culture of the DC metro area and have pivoted in a unique way. We present an intimate, elevated social setting that is not a waitlist-restaurant or crowded, delirious bar. It’s providing a place where everyone wants to be,” says co-owner, Ki Jun Sung.

The team collaborated with Swatchroom to restore the building’s 12-foot soaring arched windows and classic vestibule with period mosaic tile. The 5,000 square foot space boasts an impressive quartz-topped main bar, a grand chandelier made up of half a mile of custom gold chain links, and a dramatic staircase leading to the exclusive second floor.

A sprawling lenticular image fills one of St. Yves main walls, using the illusion of depth to change and move when viewed from different angles. Tucked away in the corridor of the private bar, a soft and voluminous custom tulle sculpture can be discovered on the ceiling. Guests will look up and marvel at the dream- like artwork, immediately trying to capture it on their phones. These unique installations double as art and as forms of interactivity, a necessary design factor in current social media brag culture. Photography is absolutely encouraged.

“We are honored to be working with such an incredible space. As trusted operators for the last two decades, and with long, respected careers as attorneys, we are ecstatic to bring this historically restored, prime location to life,” says co-owner, David Chung.

As for food and beverage, the menu features caviar service with fine Osetra, Beluga, Sevruga, and salmon varietals. The caviar is served with toast points and classic accompaniments. Pick-and-choose specialty cheeses and house- cured charcuterie are also offered with toast, housemade jams and pickled vegetables. Irresistible bar snacks complete the menu with a rotation of seasonal dishes including spiced marcona almonds, housemade patés, and roasted chicken salad on baguette. St. Yves’ cocktail menu is comprehensive with drinks inspired by the classics and the seasons. The wine list boasts some of the finest champagnes and releases served at the proper temperature for maximum intensity of flavor.

Lobbyists, lawyers, and the politically influential as well as DC’s thriving creative class and professionals, will all enjoy St. Yves social atmosphere. St. Yves is open Tuesdays through Fridays for happy hour at 5:30pm. Friday and Saturday evening hours are 10pm-3am. For the first three weeks of opening, May 5-26, St. Yves will be open Fridays only from 10pm-3am. For reservations call (202) 466-2582.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
