“Four Arrests Made in Robbery Spree in Chinatown and Capitol Hill Area”

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District announced four arrests have been made in reference to the following offenses:

* Armed Carjacking (Gun), Assault with Dangerous Weapon (Gun), and Leaving After Colliding: On Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at approximately 8:40 pm, in the 900 block of G Street, Northwest, three suspects approached the victims, one of the suspects brandished a handgun, and ordered them out of the vehicle. The suspects then took vehicle and fled the scene. A few blocks away, the suspects were involved in a traffic accident with an unrelated driver. As the driver attempted to call the police, the suspect with the handgun, threatened the driver. The suspects fled the scene in the stolen vehicle. CCN: 16-150-885.
* Attempt to Commit Robbery: On Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at approximately 9:20 pm, in the 300 block of 7th Street, Northwest, the suspects approached the victim, who was in his vehicle; one of the suspects brandished a handgun and demanded his property. The victim fled in his vehicle and did not surrender his property. CCN: 16-150-919.

* Carjacking (Attempt): On Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at approximately 10:00 pm, in the 900 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast, the victim was stopped in his vehicle, when four suspects approached him. One of the suspects brandished a handgun and demanded his property. The victim fled in his vehicle and did not surrender his property. CCN: 16-150-981.

* Carjacking (Attempt): On Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at approximately 10:10 pm, in the 900 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast, the victim was stopped in his vehicle, when four suspects approached him. One of the suspects brandished a handgun and demanded his property. The victim fled in his vehicle and did not surrender his property. CCN: 16-150-934.
On Wednesday, September 7, 2016, the following suspects were arrested and charged as listed below:

* 18-year-old Martrail Cunningham, of Southeast, DC, for two counts of Carjacking and Attempted Robbery

* A 16-year-old Juvenile Female, of Southeast, DC, for Attempted Robbery.

* A 16-year-old Juvenile Male, of Southeast, DC, for Armed Carjacking, two counts of Carjacking, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon(Gun), Attempted Robbery, and Leaving After Colliding.

* 19- year-old Keshard Thompson, of Southwest, DC, for Armed Carjacking, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, and Leaving After Colliding.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
