  • Looks nice enough. Decent price, not a bad location. About a half mile from 2 metro stops, same for 2 grocery stores. Good selection of bars and restaurants in walking distance. More functional than fancy. I’d say its a good deal.

  • Seems like a good price to me – I am waiting for something horrible to be disclosed.

  • Carpet is the bane of my existence due to sinus issues, but if you’re not similarly afflicted, that looks like a very nice unit (looks like it’s just been renovated to boot). And the location is pretty good…a bit on the residential side but I’m pretty sure I’m on the extreme end of not liking neighborhoods that lean heavily toward purely residential.

The only real potential catch I see here is if the landlord acts like slumlord or something. The rent strikes me as a bit low for a 2 br (or really, just for the square footage), but not suspiciously so given the more residential location.

    • Let me just clarify a little because I’m already seeing I could have put this slightly better:

“neighborhoods that lean heavily toward purely residential”

I know it’s a 10 minute walk to places like Meridian Pint. So I’m not trying to compare this place to living in Chevy Chase or something. Again, I know by DC standards I’m *extremely* biased against feeling like I’m in a residential area. I moved here from Manhattan…I’m not even trying to get into a “NYC roolz DC droolz” angle, it just really tilted me toward preferring busier areas. I wouldn’t want to live in an apartment overlooking Times Square but it creeps me out if I’m the only one walking at night.

  • I used to live two doors down from there (in a rowhouse with my husband) for about five years and never saw the inside of those, but the area was fine and has likely gotten better. #70 took me straight downtown or I could walk up to the Petworth Metro, there was a yoga studio over Meridien Pint back then (which was another bar at the time, I can’t remember now, but they served a darn good grilled cheese with bacon) and the neighbors are top notch.
