Scene at Dupont Circle Metro

Thanks to @margietime for tweeting us the photo above:

“Both Shady Grove & Glenmont trains were on the same side of the platform.”

Earlier this morning @GraceLambA tweeted us:

“Morning commuters: major fire at DuPont circle #metro station, steer clear”

WMATA had tweeted:

“Red Line: Expect residual delays in both directions due to an earlier track problem outside Dupont Circle.”

  • Single tracking due to “burning debris” on the tracks between Farragut North and Dupont Circle, according to on-train announcements.

  • Yikes – I was waiting at Dupont from 9:40-10 or so and there weren’t huge crowds and I didn’t smell smoke, so hopefully it was a small fire. But for some reason when the trains headed to Shady Grove pulled in each time, I got a strong whiff of urine. Coming from the tunnel? I dunno.

  • nothing like a good ole’ single track to start everyone off on the right foot. Thankful every day i am no longer dependent on metro
