I’ve been hearing lots of rumors about the former laundromat next to Red Derby at 14th and Quincy St, NW – pizza place, new bar, coffeehouse, other restaurants. But I haven’t been able to confirm any of them – so who would you like to see take over this space?

I'm not sure who all these people are who are suggesting to park at DC USA. I just...
Work across the street. Business never appears to be THAT good (ie saddest bar/club I've...
Sure, transfer the title, registration, and insurance to someone who doesn't own or drive...
Mat, Thanks again for your support; and your point is well taken.
"Used to live," not "used the live." I hate blackberrys.
I miss hearing the wild cats...
Strip club
If it could fit, I’d like to open a dream business of mine.
It would be a Strip Club/Bowling Alley combo. And the name of the establishment? BLUE BALLS!
Coffee house would be fantastic.
Liquor store!
A casual coffee/wine bar that can transition easily from day/night, weekday/weekend. The property has space for a small outdoor patio on the side too. PS has anyone gone to the Utopia Nails just down the way? PPS there’s another new property for lease just on the other side of Red Derby too. What’s up with all the turnover?
Those are always nice to have in the neighborhood. I wish these coffee places wouldn’t turn into bars/restaurants at night, but it’s probably the only way they can stay in business.
Exactly – I’d love a plain coffee shop/deli, but I’m not sure it would get quite enough business at that location (given the lack of mid-day traffic). Something with a more flexible business model (that doesn’t compete with Red Derby) could work though.
The landlord tripled the rent in a number of spaces on the block, according to the awesome people that run French’s Cleaners. It’s sad to see all the empty storefronts now. While I like winebars and coffee shops, the laundromat provided a needed service to this community.
ugh, seriously? French’s is my favorite business on the block. I hope they can stick around, it always cheers me up to go there.
Agreed — the folks at French’s are terrific.
Sorry, should have clarified – it didn’t seem that French’s will be impacted by that landlord. And I have my fingers crossed too that this is the case – they are great!
strip club coffee house
boutique hotel
coffee house for strippers?–they need lots of caffeine to work late nights
Leo Pizza franchise.
day care….that turns into a bar at night?
That’s actually a good idea. Except it would be tricky finding decor that would work for both.
Tapas
Space ladder.
Red Derby expands into laundromat to resurect Seattle’s lost “Sit and Spin” – bar/music venue/laundromat.
Who doesn’t want to wash a few loads while drinking a PBR?
lol Andy +1
A Micheals!
My neighbors were so excited when the dry cleaners on the east side of Lincoln Park shuttered its doors. What would move in? A trendy bistro? An upscale market?
Imagine our delight when several months later, what business should spring up in its place? An *ORGANIC* dry cleaner!
We hugged and danced into the night, as you might imagine.
A mattress store.
Laundry and Liquor Store
A real punk rock dive bar to duke it out with the hipsters at the derby.
hmm 40 year old punk rockers vs flannel shirts and skinny jeans..I’d pay to see that.
A gay bar with an outdoor area. A rainbow flag on that corner would do the neighborhood good.
yesturday there was a great annual block party on 14th and quincy st nw. its an organization that works with alot of the youth onthe neighborhood. trying to get them out of gangs and help them move on to college. with all the robberies in the area . i think this would be a great asset to the community. have this organization take over the space to keep engagment and keep everything safe. i believe the banner said CHSFSC
