Always brings great joy to many…

“While DPW cleans streets year-round (Street Sweeping), some streets are designated “no parking for cleaning” from March 3rd to October 31st, and drivers should check signs to ensure they’re not parked in a cleaning zone during that time.”

HOWEVER, please note Leaf collection starts rolling out today! (more…)

From ABCA:

“Daylight Saving Time will end at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025. Clocks must “fall back” or be turned back by one (1) hour.

Any licensee that normally ends alcohol service at 2:00 a.m. will automatically be able to sell and serve alcohol until 3:00 a.m. Licensees do not need to take any action to remain open for one (1) additional hour to conduct business.”

Update: “Alley cleaning is different. Our street cleaning definitely went until October 31”

“Dear PoPville,

Has DPW quietly changed street sweeping to end October 1 (as opposed to Oct 31) without telling anyone? All the street signs say street seeping goes through October 31, but I just saw this today:

DPW works to clean streets and alleys from the first Monday in April through September 30th. Alley cleaning is suspended from October 1st through March 31st. Alley Cleaning Services include cleaning up loose litter, debris, glass, gravel, sand, and liquid spills in the alley”

Have folks noticed if these signs have changed? (more…)

From the Mayor’s office:

“Residents can find weekly leaf collection updates every Friday through DPW’s online leaf tracker at dpw.dc.gov/leaf or by calling the DPW Leaf Line at (202) 671-LEAF (5323). The tracker will be updated every Friday with more precise information on scheduled collection.

In addition to the trackers, leaf collection teams will distribute door hangers in advance to alert residents that they are entering their two-week collection window. Residents should rake leaves to the curb or tree box in front of their home the weekend before their scheduled collection week. On collection days, residents should avoid parking along curb lanes to ensure efficient leaf vacuuming.

Leaf collections will occur twice in each neighborhood for residents who receive DPW trash and recycling services.
